Music-LEAF TURNER.
Application filed July 11, 1917.
An object of the present invention is to4 provide a music leaf turner which is of simple, durable and inexpensive construction, is reliable and efficient in use, convenient of manipulation, and furthermore may be manufactured and marketed at al relatively low cost.
A further object in the provision of an appliance of the above character embodying a novel construction and mounting of the leaf carrying elements.
lith the abo've and other objects of simi- 'lar nature in view the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts, set forth in andV falling within the scope of the appended claim.v
ln the drawing Figure 1 is a front elevation of a music leaf turner constructed in accordance with Y the invention, parts being broken away.
Fig. 2 is a vertical section therethrough,
Fig. 3 is a transverse section taken on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1, and
Fig. a is a detail perspective view of a pair of leaf carrying elements and their related mechanism.
Referring now more particularly to the accompanying drawing, there is shown a music leaf turner consisting of a main support or board 5 which is preferably of wood and has secured to its front face at its lower end a transverse ledge 6.
Secured also to the front face of the support 5 are a pair of substantially U-shaped bearing plates 7 arranged in vertical alinement and adjacent the upper and lower edges of the support respectively.
A plurality of upper leaf carrying arms 8 are provided and have at their inner ends right angular extensions 9 which are journaled in the upper bearing plate 7, said extensions adjacent the lower leg of said plate Specification of Letters Patent.

being directed laterally and returned to provide stops 10 the purpose of which will appear.
lilncircling each of the extensions between the legs of said plate is a coil spring 11 having its ends secured respectively to the plate and the related stops 10. The normal tending of the springs is to urge the leaf carrying arms in one direction of their movement.
` Slidably engaged through the lower bearing plate 7 are a plurality of rods 12 corresponding to the number of leaf carrying arms 8, the same passing also through an angular bearing plate 13 secured to the 'support between the plates 7 with their upper ends engaged loosely through the lower legs The rods 12 are furthermore equipped at their lower ends with linger buttons 14 pivoted as at 1li to the board 5 while'pivoted thereto between the legs of the lower bearing plateare a plurality of lower leaf carrying arms 15.
At their outer or free extremities the leaf carrying arms S and 15 are each provided with a clip 16 by which it is fastened to the music sheet. In order to house the turning mechanism and protect it from injury a cover plate 17 is provided and suitably secured to the support 5.
After connecting the leaf carrying arms with the music sheets as will be readily understood the rods 12 are depressed and said arms swung to the right until stopped by the support 5, so that the springs 11 are placed under tension. The rods 12 are then moved upwardly so that their upper eX- tremities will ovcrlie the corresponding stops 10 and lock the arms 8 against return movement under the influence of the springs 11.
As the score is being played and it becomes necessary to turn the several sheets, the buttons 1st are pressed successively to disengage the rods from the stops 10, the arms 8 being thus free to turn will return to their normal position under the influence of the springs and in consequence turn the music sheets as will be clearly evident.
That l claim is:
A music leaf turner including a support, a substantially U-shaped bearing plate secured to the support, a leaf carrying arm having at its inner end an angular extension journaled in said bearing plate, said extension between the legs of she plate be- :um loosely pivoiecl adjacent the lower end 10 ing provided with zi laterally directed stop, of said rofl.
u 'spi-ing encircling the extension with its lu testimony whereof, I u'HiX my signueucls connected lespeovely wih the plete ture in the presence of two Witnesses.
und stop, L rod slidubly mounted on the support belou7 Seid plete, the upper enel of FREDERICK YV' MEYER' said rod passing slidably through the Witnesses:
adjacent leg of the plate in position to enlilmzun'r A. Dimmu,
