To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, ViLLmM Diivinsori lxvnn, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee, State of l/Visconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Electric- Light Fixtures, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which are a part of this specification.
This invention relates to improvements in electric light fixtures more particularly adapted for use iii street lighting.
.ln street lighting it is the common practice to suspend electric lamps from wires stretched between two poles and arranged in such a manner as to permit the lamps being` lowered to the ground for cleaning and repair work. vIn lamps suspended in this manner the current carrying wires are usually extended from one of the poles to the lamp and are connected to a cross arm forming part of the bracket to which the lamp is connected. In ordinary constructions of this kind the current carrying wires if pulled too taut will hold the lamp in an inclined position so that the street below will not be eliiciently lighted. The weight of the current carrying wires also has a tendency7 to tilt the lamp with the same result. This manner of suspending electric lamps is not very satisfactory and is objectionable from many points of view.
It is one of the objects of this invention to overcome the before mentioned objectionable features and provide an electric light fixture which will always hang in vertical position.
A further object of the invention is to provide an electric light fixture in which novel means are provided for pivotally connecting the parts together and for clamping the bracket to the support cable.
A further object of the invention is to provide an electric light fixture which is of simple construction, is strong and durable and is well adapted for the purpose described.
Viththe above and other objects in view the invention consists of the improved electric light fixture and its parts and combinations as set forth in the claims, and all equivalents thereof.

.Referring to the drawing` the numeralA 8 indicates the two-part clamping member or connector, 9 the bracketmeniber pivotally connected thereto and 10 the lamp fixture which is pivotally connected to the bracket.
The clamping member is of elongated form and is divided inedially, vertically, longitudinally into two parts 11 andll and the partsl are clamped together by transversely extending screws 12 and nuts threaded thereon.
Each part of the clamping member is provided with longitudinally extending upper and lower grooves 13 and 13, one of which is adapted to receive the cable 14 from which the fixture is supported. The upper grooves are of less size than the lower ones and are adapted to accommodate a cable of less diameter `than the lower grooves. The grooves are slightly angular so that when the cable is positioned therein and clamped between the two portions of the member by the screws 12, the said member will be firmly secured to the cable.
Each half section of the clamping member is provided with a downwardly extending and outwardly offset lug l5 having an annular recess or pocket 16 formed on its inner .side to receive the T-shaped head 17 of the bracket 9 before mentioned and forming part thereof. The offsetting of the lugs forms ay space 18 to accommodate the stem 17 of the T-shaped head and permits the said stem to freely swingfbetween the said lugs. This construction forms a pivotal connection between the clamping member and the bracket.
rlhe length of the bracket 9 extends transversely with relation to the clamping member and at its outer ends the bracket is provided with outwardly projecting trunnions or pins 19 upon which are mounted porcelain or other insulators 20. The insulators are held in position on the trunnions by wires 21 which are passed through transverse openings in the trunnions and are then bent around the trunnions to hold the wires in position. The bracket medially of its length is provided with downwardly extending eyed ears 22 to receive a pivot pin 23 upon which theelectric lamp 10 before mentioned is mounted. The lamp is provided with an upsta-nding` eyed lug 24 through which the pivotlpin 23 `passes and pivotally connects the lamp l0 to they bracket in parallel relation to the first mentioned pivotal connection.
In the modified form shown in Figs. 4L and 5 an eye bolt connector 25 is used in lieu of the clamping connector member 8 and is threaded into the modified form of bracket member 9".. The bracket is modified to the extent of eliminating the T-shaped head and in other respects it is the same as the first form described. The cable for supporting the modified form of fixture extends through the eye of the bolt.
From the4 foregoing description it will be seen that the improved fixture is adapted to hold the lamp in proper vertical position whether or not the pull-of the current wires connected to the bracket tips the said bracket.
lhatl claim as my invention is:
1. An electric light fixture, comprising a connector, a bracket pivotally supported therefrom and extending at right angles thereto and having. insulators mounted on its opposite ends and medial downwardly extending eyed lugs, a lamp member positioned below the bracket and having an eyed lug which extends between the bracket lugs, and a pin pivotally connecting thelamp member to the bracket,
2. Anelectric .light fixture, comprising a two-part connector having a socketed portion, -abracket member having a headed portion which enters the socket and forms a pivotal connection between the connector and the bracket, and a lamp member pivotally connected to the bracket member.
An electric light? fixture, comprising a two-part connector having opposite cable groovesand pivot sockets, means for clamping the two `parts together, abracket member positioned below the connector and having as. T-shaped head which enters the pivot sockets and pivotally connects the bracket to the connector, and a lamp member pivotally connected to the bracket.

An electric light fixture, conuorising a two-part connector having opposite cable grooves and pivot sockets, the socketed portions of the connector being spaced apart, a bracket member positioned beneath the counector and having a T-shaped head positioned between the spaced portions of the connector and entering the sockets thereof to pivotally connect the bracket to the connector, said bracket also having outstanding pins with insulators mounted thereon, and a lamp member pivotally connected to the bracket.
5. An electric light fixture, comprising a two-part connector having opposite cable grooves and pivot sockets, the socketed portions of the connector being spaced apart, a bracket member positioned `beneath the connector and having a T-shaped head positioned between the spaced portions of the connector and entering the sockets thereof to pivotally connect the bracket to the connector, said bracket also having outstanding f pins with insulators mounted thereon, and downwardly extending eyed lugs, a lamp member positioned beneath the bracket and having an eyed lug which extends between the bracket lugs, and a pin pivotally connecting the lamp member to the bracket.
6. An electric lightfixture, comprising a two-part connector having opposite cable grooves and pivot sockets, the socketed portions of the connector being spaced apart, a bracket member positioned beneath the con neetor and having a T-shaped head positioned between the spaced portions of the connector and entering the sockets thereof to pivotally connect the bracket to the con` nector, said bracket also having outstanding pins with insulators mounted thereon and downwardly extending eyed lugs, a lamp member positioned beneath the bracket and having an eyed lug which extends between the bracket lugs, and a pin pivotally connect ing the lamp member to the bracket, said pivotal connections being approximately parallel with relation to each other.
