Description

JEREMIAH PECK.
Improvement in Sash Holders.
N0. 124,696. I Patented March19,18 72.
PATENT QFFIoE.
JEItEMIAH PEGK, on NEW HAVEN, oonnncrrcur.
-IMPROVEMENT m SASH-HOLDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 124,696, dated March 19, 1872.
SPECIFICATION.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JEREMIAH PEcK, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State to the letters of reference marked thereon.
This invention relates to that class of sashholders which are provided with a sliding bar adapted to bear against the sash, which bar is. operated by means of an eccentric lever; and
consists of specific details of construction which will be fully described hereinafter.
In the drawing, Figure 1 represents a front elevation of my improved sash-holder as applied to the frame. Fig. 2 represents a crosssection of the holder detached; Figs. 3 and 4, views of the sliding bar Figs. 5 and 6, views of the eccentric lever; and Figs. 7 and 8, views of the cylindrical case. The holder is represented full size.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my improved holder, I will'now proceed to describe fully its construction.
A represents a cylindrical case, consisting of the annular bottom plate a and sides a, between which latter are left openings or, to permit the movement of the sliding bar B.
This bar is provided with a slot, 1;, and with arms or projections b b, as shown in Fig. 1.
,(l represents the lever, consisting of the arm 0, bearing recess 0 and eccentric sleeve 0 It is also provided with a central opening, .00, as shown in Figs. 2, 5, and 6. D represents the securing-screw, which, when in place, extends through the central opening in the lever, through the slot of slide B, and also through the central opening of the bottom the wood of the frame. 7
The operation is as follows: A hole of proper size to receive the cylindrical case A' is bored in the window-frame at the proper point. Into this the case A is placed, and the parts B O are properly arranged therein, as shown in the drawing. The screw D is then inserted, by which means all the parts are firmly secured together, and the device as a whole is securely held in place. by the movement of the lever G, the revolution of the latter by means of its eccentric sleeve causing the sliding bar to be thrust in and out at will. The lever, by means of its bearing-recess c, rests-upon the edges of the case A, and revolves freely thereon.
The described device is exceedingly simple plate into in construction; It is also compact inform,
and its parts being few in number, it can be produced at a very small cost.
Having thus fully described my invention,-
what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- Y The combination of the cylindrical case A, having a central orifice and the side openings .00, theslide-bar I), having arms I) b, the lever G, having acentral orifice, the bearing-recess c and the eccentric sleeve 0 and the screw D, as described, the case A being adapted to enter a circular opening, and the parts A B 0 being adapted to be cast and to be united together and secured in position by the screw D, as set forth. 1
This specification signed and witnessed this 19th day of August, 18.70. V
JEREMIAH PEOK. Witnesses:
E. A. THOMPSON, FRANK PREscoT'r.
