UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HERMINE BELLINGr-KNG, 0F ZURICH, SWITZERLAND.
DRESS-FORM.
Application filed June 8, 1915.
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, HERMINE BELLING- KNG, a citizen of Germany, and a resident of Zurich, Switzerland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dress- Forms, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a dress form which may be adjusted both vertically and laterally in a novel and simple manner.
In the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1, is a longitudinal section partly in side view of a dress form embodying my invention;
Fig. 2, a cross section on line d1, cl2, Fig. 1;
Fig. 3, a cross section on line el, e2, Fig. 1;
Fig. 4C, a side elevation, and
Fig. 5, a cross section on line a3, a4, Fig. 1.
The device comprises essentially, a pair of upright telescoping rods CZ, e, mounted on a suitable base (not shown) and which may be adjustably connected by means of a set screw f. The body of the dress form is composed of a lower rump section c, an intermediate busi*J section b, and an upper neck section a. The rump section c is provided with an upper projection 10 adapted to vbe received within a corresponding socket of the bust section b. Gtherwise the construction of the rump section is identical with that of the bust section so that the description of the latter will apply to the former.
The bust section is formed of four quadrantal members b2, b3, b4, b5, which are adjustably connected to each other by pins Specicaton of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 13, 1917.
Serial No. 32,865.
g, 1", s, t each pin being Jfast in one of the members and loose in the other member. The pins are engaged by the surface grooves of sheave wheels m, fn, o, p having Spanner holes, so that the wheels may be turned by means of a suitable key Z. The threaded eyes of the sheaves engage screw bolts h, z', Z2, Z, secured at their inner ends to a collar g carried by rod d. It will be seen that by turning the sheave wheels, pins g, 1", s, t, will be forced either outward or inward to correspondingly spread or contract members b2, b3, b4, b5, and accordingly either inrease or decrease the width of the bust secion.
Into the neck piece a are counter sunk,
four nuts, u, o, w, c engaged by screws s1, s2, s3, s4. A bipartite resilient strap r1, 1'2 encompasses neck piece a and has apertures for the accommodation of screws s1, 83, and slots for the accommodation of screws S2, s4. By turning the screws, the strap may be either expanded or contracted to correspondingly increase or decrease the diameter of the neck piece.
I claim:
A dress form comprising a rod, a plurality of quadrantal members encompassing the same, pins connecting said members, sheaves engaging the pins, said sheaves having threaded eyes, screw bolts engaging said eyes, and a collar on the rod, which collar carries the screw bolts.
