Description

J. n. Monn'z. BUCKET HOLDER. APPLICATION FILED APR; H.191
Patented Nov; 13, 1917.
mainframes.
Specification of Letters Patent.-
Application filed April 11, 1917. Serial No. 161,217.
Toull whom it may concern.
"Be. it known that I, JOHN D. Monrrz, a
.citizen of the United States, residing at Remsen, 1n the county of Plymouth, State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bucket-Holders; and I do hereby declare thefollowing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to devices for suspending paint buckets andfthe like, and has for an object to provide an article of novel formation that is applicable to ladders,
' building roofs, or other suitable supports,
and is so constructed as to hold a bucket suspended in an upright position irrespective of the degree of inclination of the support. r
'A further object of the, invention resides in the-provision of an appliance of this nature which may be formed entirely of wire of suitable gage, and may thus be manufactured and marketed ata relatively low cost,
and which furthermore, may be readily,
folded for storage or transporation.
' lrVith the above and otherobjects of simi lar nature in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts, set forth in and falling within the scope of the appended claim.
I11 the drawing Figure 1 is a perspective view of a ladder with the invention applied thereto, and suspending a bucket.
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the device shown in operative position upon a roof.
Fig. 3 is a section taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2; and
Fig. .Lis a view of'the device folded for storage or transportation.
Referring now more particularly to the accompanying drawing, the invention is formed entirely of a plurality of lengths of wire of a gage sufiiei ently heavy to successfully serve the purpose for which it is designed. Specifically the device comprises a. pair of similarlyconstructed members 6, each f med from a si gle length of Wi e that is looped betweenits ends to produce an eye 7 wlth the resultant end portions Patented Nov. 13, 1917. I
directed in divergent relation therefrom and providing a relativelyilong supporting leg 8, and a relatively short supporting leg 9. The terminals of the'legs-8 are bent'as shown at 10 into substantially hook form,
said hooks opening outwardly of the legs and having their bills terminally sharp-. ened. The shorter legs 6 are also terminally bent to provide inwardly turned hooks 11,
the purpose of which and'of the hook will subsequently appear.
Passed through the eyes which are engagedthe ends of a bail 14, by which the device may be suspended from a nail or the like when not in .use. Pivotally engaged with the. wire 12 between the eyes"? is a shank of a hook 15," said hook being freely movable on the wire so as to assume at all times a perpendicular posiin convenient reach of a person stationed on'the ladder, and at the same time out of v 85.
2 the device is illustratedas, applied to a roof with the legs 8 and 9 re-' the way.
In Fig.
spectively, disposed on opposite side of, or in other words straddling the peak thereof, the
sharpened terminals ofthe hooks 10 penetrating the roofto prevent slipping of the device. A bucket suspended from the. hook will thus be securely supported without danger of dislodgment. It is evident that when not in use the device may i be folded as I and loosely con- 7 I nectmg the member 6 is a short bolt with clearly shown in Fig. land by means of the bail I l-suspended from a nail or-;sim.i'- lar supporting'means.
What I claim-is:
A bucketholder consisting of pair. of
members each including a short and a long leg termmatlng respectwely 1n hooks, means loosely conneetlng szud members at the In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature 1n the presence of tWo W1tnesses.
JOHN D. MORITZ.
junction of said legs, and a hook carried by \Vitnesses: 5 said connectlng means and freely movable M. M. GRIEPENBURG,
thereon.
C. J. AHMANN.
