IMPROVEMENT IN PLW-CLEVISES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 124,313, dated March 5, 1872.
To whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM AXFORD, of Carrollton, in the county ot' Greene and State ot' Illinois, have made certain Improvements in Plow-Clevises and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing making' a part of this specification, and to the letters and tigures of reference marked thereon.
Figure l ot' the drawing represents a top View of my clevis attached to a plow-beam. Fig. 2 is a side View of my clevis, and Fig. 3 is a detail. Fig. 4 represents a side view of my elevis when arranged upon the plow-beam for a single team.
My invention relates to clevises; and consists in the construction of the devices hereinafter described and claimed.
A of the drawing represents the draft-pin, to which is attached the draft-link F, and D is a draftrod, extending from the link F to the eyeboltG of the beam, as shown on Fig. l. C represents a pin, used for adjusting the clevis lengthwise upon the plow-beam when I desire to plow with one or two animals only; and it likewise serves as a draft-pin when three or more animals are used abreast for that purpose. B represents a pin, passing through the central part ot' the main bars ofthe elevis and necting it with the beam, as shown. By the use of this piu B, and the perforations a, in said bars, the operator can adjust the clevis upon the beam either to the right or left, at will. The letters Erepresent a series of rings arranged around the draft-pin A. They are respectively made removable, and their office is to provide means by which the draft-link may be adjusted upon the pin at any point, up or down, that may be required. When using one or two animals, only the rod D is removed.
