The invention hasl Yto. i do .imore1-zparticularly with a form of mounting for the inkl distributing *rollsrwliereby' to afford ready access to these rolls and also to the under lying distributing and rider rolls for cleaning and other purposes.
The object above noted is obtained by mounting the distributingr rolls on av carriage for ready movement from an operative normal position above the rider rolls .to a position clear thereof, a temporary clearance track being provided for the carriage,` which track when not in use can be readily removed out of the way.
In order that the invention may be readily understood by those skilled in the art, a preferred embodiment of the same .is4 set forth in the followingdetaileddescription and in the accompanying drawings wherein- Figure 1 is a top plan view showing an embodiment of the invention; and
Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same.
l Obviously the invention issusceptible of embodiment in other and various constructional forms without departure from the vscope thereof, wherefore the drawing and description are to be understood as illustrative rather than as unnecessarily limiting the invention.
rolls that provision is made by the present invention for removing y the upper set of rolls from normal position overlying the lower set to a position at one side thereof.
Having this objectv in view, the upper set of distributing ink rolls, instead of being 1Apiilicatioiiiiieiiviaiche, 1916.1.;seriaifNoi-saoii mounted fined-*portions of theaink-fsu'pl-V,y

Toaccommodate the carriage and its load offdistributing rolls-'when moved-from 'dior-1 ynial operative positiona clearance track is provided formed of rails 2()v arranged/as a continuationr of the rails 19 and hinged` thereto at 21. The rails 20 constituting the clearance track are, when in use, detachably held in parallel fixed relation byv means of a latch device 22 of any well lknown construction. Wheny it is vdesired to gain access to the set of rider rolls 15 the carriage 17y is relieved from its connection to the frame 16 and rolled to the position indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 2 uponfthe clearance track 20.` vWhen they purposeV of its removal has been accomplished, the carriage is returned with its load of ink distributing lrolls to the position shown in full lines, the latch 22 is released and the rails 20. may be Vswung upon their hinges 21 to the position indicated in dotted lines inFig. l where they will be out of the way.
I claimt 1. In an inking arrangement for printing presses, the combination of superposed cooperating sets of ink rolls, a carriagemounting for the overlying setof rolls, ya permanent track for the carriage in the nor- .mal position of the rolls, and a clearance track connected with the permanent track for the carriage whereby the upper set can be moved clear of the lower set to afford ready access thereto, the clearance track eX- tending to one side of thek roll-supporting frame and comprising rail members each forming a continuation of the correspondhinged thereto for folding to an inoperative position alongside the permanent rails.
2. In'an inking arrangement for printing presses, the combination of' superpo'sed cooperating sets of ink rolls, a carriage-mounting for the overlying sets of rolls, a permanent track for the carriage in the normal position of the rolls,4 and a clearance track ing rail member of the permanent track and presses, .they combination of super-posed cooperating sets of ink rolls, a carriage-mounting for vtheY overlying sets of rolls, a permanent trackfor the carriage 1n the normal position of the rolls, anda clearance track connected With the permanent track for the carriage whereby the upper set canbe moved copies'ofi this patent niay be obtained for clear yof the lower lset to `aiforvd ready access thereto, the clearance track extendingy to Vone `side of the roll-supporting frame 'and' comprising` rail members` each forming r a continuation of the corresponding rail member of the permanent track and hinged thereto for folding in a horizontal plane to an inoperative position alongside the per- Y manent rails, Vandl a latch device for releasably holding the rails of the temporary track in parallelv operative position; 1
