Description

H. D. JUSTI- ARTIFICIAL TOOTH. APPLICATION men ocr. 19. Isms,
Patented Oct. 2, 1917.
I WITNESSES S. 1 9 MHIBR HENRY D. JUSTI, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA ARTIFICIAL roo'rrr.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 2. 1917.
Application filed October 19, 1916. Serial No. 126,493.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY D. JUs'rI, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Artificial Tooth, of which the following is a specification.
My invention consists of an artificial tooth which is provided therein with an angular opening therethrough forming a vent which is open at the exterior of the tooth to allow the escape of air therefrom, so that there will be a free flow of the plastic material or metal thereinto, forming a perfect anchorage for said material or metal in the tooth and preserving in the main the strength of the tooth.
The invention is satisfactorily illustrated in the accompanying drawing, but the important instrumentalities thereof may be varied, and so it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the specific details shown and described.
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of an artificial tooth embodying my invention.
Fig. 2 represents a longitudinal section thereof on line 22 Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 represents a top plan view thereof.
Fig. l represents a vertical section of a modification.
Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in the figures.
Referring to the drawings.
1 designates an artificial tooth, which excepting the feature of my invention applied thereto, is of usual construction.
In the body of the tooth is an opening or passage which is of angular form, one llmb 2 of which extends therein in the longitudinal axis of the tooth, and the other limb 3 thereof extending therein in the transverse axis of the tooth and communicates with said limb 2, both limbs opening outward remetal one with the other.
tially parallel.
Furthermore, the outer terminal of the limb 3 of the opening is intermediate of the rear portion l of the neck of the tooth and the biting edge thereof, thus leaving said portion intact and solid, and so it is not liable to spread, whereby its strength is pre served. The attachment of the plate material with the tooth is still further increased by the cavity 5 in the teeth at the lap ridge, the latter forming the surrounding wall of said cavity whereby said material will enter the latter as well as said angular passage and so be anchored in both passage and cavity.
In Fig. 4, the rear portion 4 of the neck is slightly different in that it is of less thickness than that of the other figures, and the limb 3 of the opening is reduced in length without, however, producing different results from those hereinbefore stated.
Having thus described my invention what 11 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
An artificial tooth having a passage of angular form extending therethrough and a cavity in the lap ridge thereof, one end of said passage terminating at the lingual side of the tooth and the other end terminating at said cavity and in communication therewith.
