To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, F RANK WELLEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Paterson. in the county of Passaic and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Plush-Coat- Sleeve-Steaming Devices, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

The object of my invention is to provide a device for effectively steaming plush cloth or similar pile fabric and sleeves of plush coats without injury to the fabric which, from its adjustability, means for applying and distributing the steam, simplicity of construction and ease of operation, will greatly facilitate the cleansing, renovation and preservation of plush fabrics and will cause the plush, where it has become crushed and flattened about the seams or elsewhere,

to assume its normal condition.

ples of my invention will raise the nap of the plush and remove the wrinkles by sending dry steam through the sleeves of the garments from the inside and by forcing the steam through the plush or like fabric from the bottom of the cloth upwardly.

The old method of placing the plush sleeves or plush upon a steam pressing board and blowing steam over the surface of the plush nap, and brushing the nap against the grain, has never produced satisfactory results, has failed to remove wrinkles and to raise the nap of the plush to its normal position.

The efficient and essential feature or principle of my invention is to embody in a device, means for covering the fabric and means for drivin or blowing the steam outwardly through tie plush cloth from the inside or so-called wrong side of the fabric, together with means whereby a separate supply of steam may, when desired, be sprayed directly across the plush nap, and in brushing the nap, when yet warm.

My invention, broadly stated, consists of a hollow perforated member for holding or supporting a sleeve or garment made of plush cloth or the like, a perforated steam conduit passing through said member, for blowing or drivin the steam through the fabric from beneat and means for distributing the steam over the outer face of the goods and heating the pile or nap of the same, preliminary to brushing it.

An auxiliary tubular lever is added to send a jet of steam through a broad nozzle over the surface of the plush.

The device is mounted on a tubular stand to permit the raising or lowering of the device to the desired height.

In the accompanying drawings, in which similar letters of reference indicate like parts, Figure 1 is a front elevation of the device, the cover being removed. Secured to the main steam supply pipe (0) is a pipe 2) which is perforated and passes longitudinally through the central portion of the hollow member (Z) and is suitably secured thereto.

When the swinging tubular arm- (f) is moved into working position, shown in,

Fig. 1, a valve (g) is opened to permit the passage of steam from the main supply pipe ((1) through the tubular spraying arm as shown in Figs. 7 and 8. When the arm (f) is swung out of working posit-ion, the valve (g) is closed. lhe spring (It) keeps the stop cock (9) closed and the treadle (la) is operated by foot to open the stop cock (y) when desired.

With this description of my invention, what I claim is 1. A device of the character described, comprising a perforated support for plush fabric; imperforate means, for covering the fabric when so supported, but not in contact with it; means for delivering steam under pressure outwardly through the fabric from the inside or so-called wrong side thereof; and auxiliary means for drivmg steam over the surface of the fabric.

2. A device of the character described, comprising a hollow body perforated" at top and sides; a perforated steam-pipe passing centrally through and secured to said body portion; means for passing steam to said perforated steam pipe and a removable member spaced from and covering the top and sides of the body for arresting and spreading the steam over the surface of fabric, held on said body portion.

3. A device of the type described comprising a perforate cylinder for supporting plush goods, means for delivering a supply of steam into said cylinder and thence through said goods from one side thereof, and separate means adapted to deliver a second supply of steam upon the goods from the other side thereof.

5. A device of the type described comprising, in combination with a source of steam supply, a perforate cylinder for supporting plush goods, a connection extending from said supply for delivering steam into said cylinder and thence through said goods from one side thereof, a treadle-actuated valve located in saidconnection for governing the flow of steam to said cylinder, and a second connection having a swivel valve jointure with said supply for delivering a spray of steam upon and across the goods on the other side thereof.

6. A device of the type described comprising, in combination with a source of steam supply, a perforate support for plush goods, means for delivering steam from said supply through said supported plush from the wrong or under side thereof, and independent means connected with said supply for spraiying steam across the upper si e of the 00 s. g In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
