Said back is a resilient bow, the extremities of which engage or are attached to the binder elements 2 and 6, the spring back 12 in one position of the binding elements exerting a normal inward tension, tending to force them together to grip the interposed leaves, and in the other position the tension reverses to open up the binding elements. Of course it will be understood that the inward tension of the back 12 tends to close the binder with a snap, on one side of the center of movement, and tends to throw the binder elements apart when they are moved beyond this center. In order to provide a limit to this separating movement of the binder elements under the influence of the spring back, I support on the hinge rod one or more struts 13, having the semi-eyes 14 which engage over the hinge rod at appropriate spaces formed between the two cover flanges, the ends 15 of the struts being rearwardlv extended and housed within the spring back, as shown in Fig. 1, which brings the rounded or hearing portions of, the struts into alinement with the eyes of the flanges flush with the inside surface of the binder back, so as to preserve the regularity of the said inner surface.

In a device of the nature disclosed, top and bottom leaf binder members formed with down and up turned flanges, terminating in outturned, horizontally alined. intermeshing bearings, ahinge rod supportedin said bearings, a stop member on said rod Y with its ends extended rearwardly of said hinge rod in the path of movement of the opening binder members, to determine the leaf receiving position, and a spring back connecting said binder members and inclosmg sa1d rod and stop.

leaf binder members having inturned flanges terminating with intermeshing hinge elements, a hinge rod joining said hinge elements, a stop member on said rod extending outwardly to intercept the inturned flanges to limit the opening movements of the Witnesses:
