Description
relatively converging Walls 10 forming -a light emitting slot or perforation l1, the said walls 10 being connected' and reinforced at intervals by cross pieces or braces 12. These cross piecesor braces hold the Walls in proper relation and support the eld porti/on or panel in position, and may be arranged at any desired intervals apart. It will be seen that as the Walls 10 converge outwardly, the inner portions of the slots or perforations are of maximum Width and thus provide for theready passage of the light rays, and that as said slots are and are contracted outwardly the light rays are concentrated at the point .of emission and thus form a clearly defined light border around the center field or panel. Hence the unilluminated sign plate Will present a distinctive character of sign matter for day indication, and will also provide an illuminated type of sign matter of a distinctive char acter for night indication.
It Will be observed that inasmuch as the sign plates are simple in construction, they may be manufactured at a cost but slightly exceeding the cost of other sign plates, and Will be of greater value and convenience on account of their adaptability for'both day and night use. By employing a light box of simple construction, such as of the form disclosed, the sign nlates mav be mounted upon marginal portion being embossed or struck out from the plate and comprising spaced walls connected at intervals by cross pieces, said WallsV extending outwardly on relatively converging lines.
