lle it known that l, ALFRED BLAKEMORE, a citizen of the Dominion of Canada, residing at Kimsquit, in the county 4of Nanaimo, Province of British Columbia, Canada, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Ticket-Cases, of which the following` is a specification. y

This invention relates to ticket-cases and particularly to a device which will work automatically. The invention will be found to be of great advantage at entrances to nickel-shows, theaters or other places where tickets are sold.

rllhe object of the invention is to provide a ticket-case which will be automatically controlled and will only allow one ticket to be taken out at a time.

A. further object is to provide a ticketcase which can be adjusted to vend tickets of various sizes.

lVith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction. combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in vthe accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.

7 designates a case mounted on the feet 8 having a hinged door 9 on its front side.

l0 are partitions running parallel to the sides. In one side is a coin-lock control, the position of which is indicated by dotted lines as at 11.

The main portion inside case 7 is for the tickets 12. Slots 13 are cut in the inside back partition 17 (there is a double partition in back, see Fig.y 3) and a slidable partition lil is held in position by means of screw-nuts 15.

Slots 16 are cut in the side lO and a slidable partition 18 is held in position by means of screw-nuts 19. These partitions 14 and 18 are so arranged that they will always lit tightly to the sides of the tickets and in this way keep them all even. Different sizes of tickets will be used at different placesand partitions 14 and 13 can be adj usted as desired.

20 designates a draw-member in general which consists of a front rigid frame 21 and a back bendable portion 22. The frame 21 has a counter-sunk portion 23 in its upper side into which fits the tray 24e which is supported on the screws 25. These screws 25 are preferably7 four in number, one near each corner.

The screws 25 are for raising and lowering the tray 2i. rl`he tickets 12 come on top of tray 24 and the upper surface of the lowest ticket should just be even with the upper side of frame 21. so that when the door 9 is shut and the frame 21 pulled out. it will. carry with it the ticket in the `counter-sunk portion 23 on the tray, but the other tickets cannot be moved on account of coming in contact with the door.

lf a thick ticket is used in this device the screws 25 are screwed down, while if a thin ticket is used. they will be raised. It will be noticed that this will raise and lower the tray 24.

ylhe frame 21 is provided with a handle 26 at its outer end and a flange 27 extends from its underside at tie inner end. Cine end of an expansion spring 2S is fastened to this flanged portion 27 and the other end is fastened to the inner side of the front part of the case. lll/when the frame 2l is pulled out, the spring 23 is contracted and as soon as the handle 23 is let go it will run back into closed position as shown in Fi The back bendable portion 22 is formed of a canvas top 29 and slats 30. rlhe latter are tacked or stuck to the top 29. This portion 22 is securely fastened to frame 21 and it is provided with an eye 3l at its rear end. which eye is for connecting to a rope 32. This rope 32 extends over the pulleys 33 and 34 and down to the weight 35. The weight 35 is between partition 10 and the side of casing 7 as more particularly shown in F ig. 5.

Partition 17 is slotted at 3G to allow the portion 22 of draw-member 20 to pass through and a set'of wheels 37 are 'locatedl connectingsmembers-39 are all held together by means of a thumb-screw 4l v'which passes through fthefslots 40. When itis desired to cover :larger or smaller 1vtickets -the slidably mounted partitions 14 and 18 `are adjusted accordingly;the'thumb screw 41 is loosened and the weightsBS 'are moved out or in, as desired. The outer sides of the :weight "38 should always be at the edges'of 'theftickets 11 indotted lines `indicates a coin-lock control. have not shown any particular mechanism in :the drawings as any desiredmechanism may be used, as the same does not form a part of'this invention. The only essential part is that a llever y'operated 'by this coinlockcontrol will fhold fast the drawanember frame 21, so that it cannot be pulledioutluntil the amount of ycoin required is dropped in the slot.

Having described the mechanism lof my invention, I will now show its mode ofoperation.

rIhe larger chamber Ainside the case 47 is filled with tickets and weights 38 :are placed on top. The -door 9 will then `be shut and locked. The case will now be placed near the entrance to the ltheater or other place in which it is used.

YThe person desiring to obtain a kticket 'will put a coin of the right denomination in 'the slot, which will loperate the `coin-lock 'control and leave the frame 21 free to be pulled ou-t by handle 26. In pulling the frame y21 out the lower ticket which is 'held in the counter-sunk portion 23 on 'tray 24 also comes out and is taken off bythe purchaser.

As soon as the purchaser takes the ticket oi tray 24 and lets lhandle 26 go the frame will fgo lback intol closed position by action of ythe 'spring 28.

It will be seen that yonly one ticket can be secured at a time, and if the tickets are always kept at one vof the back corners, the

frame 2l must be allowed to close tight before the lowest ticket can drop on the tray in a way vthat it 4will pullout. v

From the foregoing it is thought that the construction of my invention will be clearly understood, and therefore a more extended explanation has been omitted.
