Description

' UNITED STATES PATENT GEFICE.
YARNALL BAILY, OF WEST CHESTER, PENNSYLVANIA.
FLUID-BURNER.
Specification of Letters Patent No, 12,409, dated February 20, 1855.
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, YARNALL BAILY, of West Chester, in the county of Chester, the State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Mode of Obtaining a Beautiful Light from what is called Burning Fluid g and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and eXact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in the peculiar arrangement of the heaters in connection with the generator b means of which the vapor or gas is evo ved. The liquid is conducted through the pipe A, Figure l, from the reservoir to the generator B, by aid of the wick; and the heaters YD, D, Fig. 2, are permanently attached, or
cast upon the top of the generator B, and situated opposite to each other. The flame tube C, F ig. 3, is also firmly secured upon the top of the generator, and so situated between the heaters as to cause the flame to come in contact with them, as represented in Fig. 2. The obj ect of this improvement is to furnish a regular and clear light, from gas or vapor, -generated by heat, from what 1s commonly known as burning Huid. y
I am aware that heaters have been applied to lamps, in contact with the flame for similar purposes heretofore. Therefore I do not claim the idea or invention of generating the vapor by the use of heaters arl ranged in contact with the flame of lamps or gas burners, but t' What I do claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is, A
The construction and arrangement of the heaters D, D, in combination with the generator B, for the purpose set forth substantially as described. j
' YARNALL BAILY.
