PICTORIAL DEVICE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 25, 1917,
Application filed May 10, 1917. Serial No. 167,632.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J OHN G. Soo'rr, J r., a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of Philadelphia, county of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pictorial Devices, of which the following 7 is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in pictorial devices and particularly to pictorial devices comprising a plurality of ele ments bearing sections of a picture and coacting to stand upright.
My invention resides in such a pictorial device comprising a lurality of elements coacting to form in e cot an easel, with sections of the picture or configuration on the easel elements, the easel comprising a front element having a plurality of perforations, and a prop or rear element secured to the front element and extending in front of the same and then through perforations to the rear of the front element.
For an illustration of one of the forms which my invention may take, reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a front elevational view of a device embodying my invention.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view on the line 22 of Fig. 1.
Referring to Figs. 1 and 2, the front element 1 has thereon a part 2 of the complete picture or representation; the second ele-- the perforation or slot 9 in the front member 1 and forms a leg or prop which in cooperation with the element 1 forms an easel which stands upright. The element 3 has a second tongue 10 extending through the second slot 11 in the elementl and spaced from the first mentioned slot 9, the element 3 being bowed, as indicated, between the two slots.
The members or elements 1 and 3 may be made of any suitable material, such as paper board, aste board, Bristol board, cardboard, prefera ly resilient, whereby the member 3 may be bowed, as indicated, without creasing or breaking.
What I claim is:
1. A device of the character described comprising a front picture bearing element having separated slots, a second picture bearing element having tongues extending through said slots from the front of said front element to the rear thereof, one of said tongues constituting with said front element an easel.
2. A device of the character described comprising a front picture bearing element having separated slots, a second picture bearing element having tongues extending through said slots from the front of said front element to the rear thereof, one of said tongues constituting with said front element an easel, said second element being bowed between said tongues in front of said front element.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto affixed my signature this 9th day of May, 1917.
JOHN G. SCOTT, JR.
