Description
F. L. H A LL.
lmprbvement in Brick Machine Trucks.
No. 123,777, Patented Feb. 20, 1872.
Wilhzwm UNITED STATES PATENT Orrrcn.
FRANCIS L. HALL, or ONEIDA, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN BRICK-MACHINE TRUCKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 123,777, dated February 20, 1872; antedated February 10, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANCIS L. HALL, of Oneida, county of Madison and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Brick-Machine Trucks; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full,
clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming apart of the same, and in which- Figure 1 represents a perspective view of my improved brick-machine truck, and Fig. 2 is a longitudinal central section thereof. Like letters .of reference in the two figures are used to designate like parts.
This invention has reference to animproved brick-machine truck; and it consists of the constituent parts thereof, constructed and arranged to operate substantially as hereinafter described and claimed.
To enable others tomake and use my invention, I will proceed to describe it.
In the annexed drawing, A A refer to three or more slats or boards, fastened at the center and at each end to transverse pieces or bars A A, which slats and cross-pieces form the supporting-surface or body of .the truck. B B are supports, theupper ends of the arms of which are fastened to the lower side of each end of the body of the truck, while the straight or pendent portions thereof are recessed or formed with vertical slots, within which are placed small rollers or trucks b b, having their bearings upon suitable axles journaled in the arms of the slotted portions of the said supports B B. 0 refers to an axle supplied with wheels 0 c and springs c 0, which are bolted to the central transverse bar A of the body of the truck. D refersto the tongue or handle of the truck, supplied at each end with cross-pieces, both to permit of its being conveniently grasped, and to prevent either end thereof from passing beyond its staples or clips. 'lhis handle or tongue is confined within staples or clips fastened to the lower side of the central and end pieces of the body of the truck, and can be pushed out from each end of said truck, whereby a reversible handle is formed, allowing the same to be grasped from either side, and withdrawn from beneath the machine withits load.
The adaptability of my truck to the office of removing bricks from abrick-machine and its operation can be readily understood by reference to my patent for a brick-machine, granted on the 4th day of July, 1871.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
herein shown and described.
2. The reversible tongue D, in combination with atruck such as herein described, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto signed my name this 31st day of July, A. D. 1871, in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FRANCIS L. HALL.
Witnesses:
I. E. FERRY,
W. H. CARTER.
1. The reversible tongue D, substantially as
