Be it known that I, R101-IARD S. CHAPMAN, a citizen oi the United States, residing at Princeton, in the county ot Millelacs and State oi' Minnesota., have invented certain new and useful Improvements in F cot-Rest Attachments for Radiators; and I do hereby declarey the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it, a'ppertains to make and use the same.

The steam radiator shown is made up oi' a plurality of two column sections 1 connected at their lower extremities by couplings 2, which ailord a conduit between the several sections of the radiator. t
The foot rest attachment comprises a horizontal tubular rail 3 carried by a pair of laterally spaced segmental arms mounted for vertical swinging movement between certain sections of the radiator. As shown, each supporting arm 4 is formed from a pair of sheet metal plates rigidly connected by rivets and having outwardly extended marginally reinforcing ribs 5 pressed therefrom. The lower end of each arm 4 has formed therein a segmental notch or open seat 6 that straddles and bears upon one of the couplings 2, which aiords a pivotal support therefor. Formed in the upper segmental edge of each arm 4, is a plurality of circumferentially spaced lock notches 7 and an open seat 8. These seats 8 are consider- Specification of Letters Patent.

Pairs oi wing nut-equipped bolts 9 detachably and adj ustably connect the foot rail 3 to each arm 4. These bolts 9 are slidably mounted in a longitudinally extended slot 10 formed in the foot rail 3, with their' heads located in said i'oot rail and with their screw-threaded ends projecting through holes formed in the seats 8, as best shown in Fig. 4. To prevent rotation of the bolts 9 and endwise movement'into the foot rail 3, during the application or the removal oi? ,their wing nuts, said bolts have a diameter slightly larger than the width of the slot `10V and are flattened on opposite sides to permit the same to enter the slot 10.
A pair of spring latches 11 `are anchored to the radiator for securing the supporting varms 4 in different set adjustments. y @ne of these latches 11 yieldingly rides upon the periphery of each arm 4 and is provided with a lock lug 12, adapted to enter and linterlock with any one oi the lock notches 7 inthe respective arm 4. The spring latch 11 is detachably and adjustably secured to the two `radiator sections 1, between which the respective arm 4 vertically swings by a clamp comprising a pair of wedge blocks 18 connected for horizontal movement by a long` draw bolt 14. rFliese wedge blocks 13 are located above the arms 4 and extend between the outer columns of the respective radiator sections and are frictionally clamped thereon by the draw bolts 14. The draw bolts 14 have 'free endwise sliding movement through the outer wedge blocks 13 and have screw-threaded engagement with the inner of said wedge blocks. The spring latches 11 are secured to the inner wedge blocks 13, as best shown in Fig. 2, and have formed on their upper' outer end portions, ratchet teeth 15. The spring latches 11 are held against accidental lifting movement by keys 16 mounted for oblique sliding movement in the outer wedge blocks 13 and engaging the ratchet teeth 15, under the action of gravity. As shown, each key 16 is oi rectangularI skeleton form with its side members slidably mounted in oblique holes 17 formed in the outer wedge members 13.
The ribs 5 not only reinforce the arms 4, but hold the same against lateral movement between the respective radiator sections and prevent rattling thereof. In case the ribs are not wide enough to substantially iill the proven highly eflicient for the purpose had in view.

l. The combination with a radiator, of a foot rest pivotally supported at its lower endon the lower coupling between certain sections'of the radiator, and means for securing the foot rest against pivotal movement.
2'. The combination with a radiator, of a 'footvrest pivotally supported on the coupling between. certain sections of the radiator. with freedom for radial displacement therefrom, a vlatch for securing the foot rest in different set adjustments, and a clamp securing the latch `to the radiator and for holding the foot rest against removal from its pivotal support.

The combination with a radiator, of a pair of laterally spaced arms pivotally mounted on the radiator and having locl notches at their free ends, latches coperating with said lock notches for holding the arms in diii'erent set adjustments, 'clamps securing the latches to the radiator, and a foot rail carried by the arms.
