Description

M. HENTNIK.
HAT AND COAT HANGER. APPLICATION FILED FEB. 18, 1915.

MARCEL HENTNIK, OF MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN.
HAT AND COAT HANGER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. '1, 191W.
Application filed February 18, 1915. Serial No. 9,199.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, MAROEL HENTNIK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Portable Hat and Coat Hangers, of which the following is a full and complete specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in hangers and more particularly to a combined hat and coat hanger and the primary object of the invention is to provide a portable device which may be quickly and readily applied to use when desired.
A further object resides in providing an improved means for detaching the hat hanger from the coat hanger, and a still fur ther object resides in providing an improved means for securing the device to a mold on the wall.
With these and other objects in view my invention consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter referred to and more particularly pointed out in the specification and claim.
In the accompanying drawing forming a' part of this application Figure 1 is a side elevation of a device constructed in accordance with my inven tion;
Fig. 2 is a vertical section therethrough as seen on the line AA of Fig. 1, looking in the direction of the arrows;
Fig. 3 is a side elevation of a slightly modified form of the invention;
Fig. 4 is a vertical section therethrough as seen on the line BB of Fig. 3, looking-in the direction of the arrows; I
Fig. 5 is a side elevation of a further modification Fig. 6 is a vertical section therethrough as seen on the line c-c of Fig. 5, looking in the direction of the arrows; and
Fig. 7 is a section as seen on the line D-D of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawing in which similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views and in which 1 designates a wall board to the upper end of which is secured by means of screws 3, a molding hook 2 and slidably mounted on the guide pin 4 within said board are the guides 5 of a movably clamping jaw 6. A guide plate 6 is provided on said. movable jaw and secured thereto and extending through a reinforcing plate 7 which is secured to the board 1 by means of screws 25 is an eye-bolt 8. A red 9 is hooked in engagement with the eye-bolt 8 and is guided through a bracket 10 which is also secured to the board 1 by means of the screw 12. A compression spring 13 encircles the pin 4 and normally holds the clamping jaw 6 in its closed or retracted position.
A guide plate 14 is secured to the lower portion of the board 1 and is provided with guide ways 14 in which is slidably mounted the hanger bracket 16. A rotatable knuckle pin 17 is mounted in said bracket and a coat hanger arm 18 is pivotally engaged with the upper end thereof through the medium of a bearing pin 19 which forms a knuckle joint 20. Secured to the arm 18 are coat hooks 21 and a hat hanger 22 is detachably mounted on the arm 18, the same having a plurality of hat hanger arms 23, which are provided at their outer ends with protective knobs 24.
In Figs. 3 and 4 I have shown a slightly modified form of the invention wherein a wall plate 26 is provided having suitable guide-ways 28 in which is slidably mounted a hanger bracket 29. An arm 30 is pivoted on a pin 32 at the upper end of the hanger bracket 29, such pivotal point being designated as a joint Suitable hooks are engaged with the arm 31, whereby to support the garments.
In Figs. 5 and 6 I have shown a further modification in which the angle brackets 36 are secured to the under side of a shelf or the llke by means of screws 37, and movably mounted in said brackets is a hanger arm 38 which carries a plurality of coat hooks 39.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that I have provided a simple, inexpensive and eflicient means for carrying out the objects of the invention and while I have particularly described the elements best adapted to perform the functions set forth, it is obvious that various changes in the form, proportion and minor details of construction, may be resorted to, without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the principles of the invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a device of the class described, the COD;- bination With a Wall board and means to secure the same to an object; of a plate removably secured to the lower end of the board and provided with vertical guid'eweys,
a hanger. bracket slidably mounted Within said guideways and provided with upper and lower prO ectmg portions, e knuckle pin rotatably supported in sald pro]ect1ng portions, a. hanger arm pivoted to they upper end of said knuckle pin and hangers and supports carried by said hanger arms.
In testimony whereof I hereunto set my 15 hand in the presenceof the two subscribing Witnesses.
MARCEL HENTNIK.
