GEORGE L. WEBB, OF SPENCER, NORTH CAROLINA.
LOOKING-GLASS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 31, 1917.
Application filed March 22, 1917. Serial No. 156,673.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Gnonon L. WEBB, a citizen of the United States, residing at Spencer, in the county of Rowan and State of North Carolina, have invented a new and useful Looking-Glass, of which the following is a specification.
This, invention relates to amusement attachments for looking glasses.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a normally invisible amusement attachment for looking glasses which may be made to appear at the will of the operator.
lVith the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings the preferred form of the invention has been shown.
In said drawings 2-- Figure 1 is a front view of the looking glass with the cover removed to illustrate the amusement attachment in detail.
Fig. 2 is a similar view to Fig. 1 with the cover in place.
Fig. 3 is a section on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
In the drawings, 1 designates a looking glass casing having a cover 2 provided with an opening 3 above the looking glass 4. The walls of the opening are beveled as at 5. The looking glass casing 1 has a recess 6 for the reception of the looking glass 4. An enlarged depression 7 communicates with the opening 3 for the reception of an amusement device 8 pivoted upon a pintle 9 car ried in the restricted portion or neck 10 of the depression 7.
The amusement device 8 comprises a disk 11 secured upon the end of an arm 12 having an extension or manipulating finger 13 projecting through the neck 10 of the opening 7 and terminating exteriorly of the easing and adapted to be engaged by the finger of a person operating the device. A stop member 14 is engaged by a laterally extendsome caricature or humorous saying before the vision of a person looking into the looking glass 4.
What is claimed is 1. The combination with a looking glass, of a casing therefor, and a member concealed within the casing and having characters thereon to afford amusement, said member being movable to a position across the glass to expose said characters.
2. The combination with a looking glass, of a casing therefor, a member concealed within the casing and having characters thereon to afford amusement, said member being movable to a position across the glass to expose said characters, and an arm for moving said member.
3. The combination with a looking glass, of a casing therefor, a disk concealed within the casing and having characters thereon to afford amusement, said member being movable to a position across the glass to expose said characters, an arm connected with said disk, and an extension upon said arm for engagement by the operators finger to move the disk.
4. The combination with a looking glass, of a casing therefor, a disk, having characters thereon to afford amusement, said casing being provided with means for concealing said disk, said disk being movable from within said concealing means to a position across the glass to expose said characters, means for limiting the movement of the disk, an arm connected to said disk, and an extension upon said arm for engagement by the operators finger to move the disk.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE L. WEBB.
Witnesses:
