IMPROVEMENT IN WASHING-MACHINES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 123,431, dated February 6, 1872.
Speoieation describing an Improved Clothes- Washer and Vringer, invented by MARTIN VAY and FRANK WAY, of Springeld, in the county of Clark and State of Ohio.
Figure l represents a Vertical central section of our combined washer and Wringer. Fig. 2 is a plan or top View, partly in section, of the same.

This invention relates to a new washinglnaehine of extremely simple construction. The. invention consists in the improvement ot' Washing-machines, as hereinafter fully described and subsequently pointed out in the olaiin.
A is the frame; G, the Wash-tub; H, the cover; and I, a hinged lid over the central aperture. g g are vertical posts on and under the cover, but extending not quite to the bottoin. h z' is a crank-shaft, swiveled in the lid and carrying a forked frame, j.
By operating the crank the frame j rubs the clothes against the posts g, and thereby oleanses them from dirt.
