WILLIAM F. NICKELS lmprsveme-nt in Water Cooler Stands.
N0.123,356, PatentedFeb.6,1872l wmvzsszs: I i I fin/( Law AM PHUTU-LITHUAQRAFHIL C0. I! X] DSEJRIIES PROCESS. I
WILLIAM FRANK NIGKELS, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN WATER-COQLER STANDS.'
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 123,356, dated February 6, 1872.
To all whom it may concern: v
Be it known that I, W. FRANK NIeKELs, of the city of Philadelphia and State of Penn-- ,sylvania, have invented a new and Improved a top of cast metal, which is designed as astand or receptacle for a water-cooler, a tumbler or cup-stand, and drainer also, an exposed drip-receiver, so arranged at the base of the column as to receive all the drain or refuse from the cup-stand above.
The following is the mode of constructing and using the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this specification, and in which Figure l is a complete view of my invention. Figs. 2 and 3 represent sectional plan views of the same.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
Letter A represents a column with a hole bored through the center sufiiciently large to admit the insertion of a drip-tube extending the full length of the column. Letter B illustrates the ring or socket, which fits the pin and rests on the shoulder of the column, securing the top or stand firm. Letter C shows three stays ribbed from the bottom, which secures the socket Bin the center, with the outside rim and rest D. The scalloped rim, projecting above the surface of the rest D, affords protection to the cooler, preventing it from being pushed or jostled 0E L'etter E is' a cup-stand with-corrugated bottom, so as to admit of the glass or cup draining without the mouth or rim resting on a wet surface, the incline being sufficient to allow the drain to pass off through letter F, an opening on projecting rest, which connects by tube G with the drip pipe in the center of column A. Letter H represents an exposed drip-receiver,fitting inside the legs at the base of column A, with an opening suflicient to admit the drip from the center tube, and which maybe removed and replaced when necessity may require.
By constructing a water-cooler stand in the manner described, utility, durability, compactness, and economy are obtained; also, the advantages of a combination of parts in the top or rest in one solid piece, having only to raise the top to detach it from the column for shipment or transportation, it being as easily adjusted; in fact the entire parts may be detached in an instant. The scalloped rim and the neck or shoulder form essential parts of the combined top-the first preventing the cooler from being knocked or jostled oh; the latter makes the connecting-tube a detachable fixture that may be slipped off to remove any obstruction that may find access or accumulate in said tube. The bore or opening through the center of the column, by the arrangement of the top rest, can be cleared of any accumulations without removing the top rest to gain access to the center hole.
I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States- The combination of the parts represented byletters A, as illustrated in Fig. 1, and B O D E F G, as shown in Fig. 2, forming the column or stand and top-rest, all substantially as and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses. r W. FRANK NICKELS.
