To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JOHN W. WILLEFORD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Thomasville, in the county of Thomas, State of Georgia, have invented a new anduseful Window-Shade-Roller Hanger; `and T do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention,

r such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it apper'tains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to a new and useful window shade roller hanger, and one of the objects of the invention is to provide a hanger of this kind comprising simple, efficient and practical features of construction.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a hanger having means whereby it may be adjusted to lit window frames of different sizes transversely.

A further object of the invention is to provide a hanger of this kind, to be so mounted, as to automatically assume a proper horizontal position, or properly bal anced, when the shade is lowered, after which the single screw may be tightened in order to hold the hanger in place.

A further object of the invention is to provide an improved bracket for 'the shade roller provided with a gravity actuated latch, to hold the pintles of the shade roller in the bracket.

In practical fields, the details of construction may necessitate alterations falling within the scope of what is claimed.

The invention comprises further features and combination of parts, as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings and claimed.

In the drawings Figure 1 is a view in perspective of a portion of a window frame, showing the improved shade roller hanger applied, and constructed in accordance with the inven tion.

Fig. 2 is a sectional View on line 2&2 of Fig. 1, showing parts in section and parts in elevation.

Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line 3 3 of Fig. 2.

Fig. 4 is a detail perspective view of one of the brackets carried by the hanger.

Referring more especially to the drawings, 1 designates a window frame which may be any suitable construction or configuration, and 2 denotes the hanger. This Specification of Letters Patent.

hanger comprises the 'two end sections 3 and 4L and the intermediate section 5, which, ad]acent its ends, is provided with elongated slots 6. The inner face of the intermediate section is provided with a longitudinally extending groove 7, which is engaged by the elongated tongues 8 of the end sections 3 and et. The end sections are provided with apertures 9, which have ad- ]oining countersinks 10, which are adjacent the faces of the end sections which engage the frame of the window. lScrew bolts 11 are provided, one to extend through any one of the apertures 9 of each series. Said bolts 11 pass through the elongated slots G of the intermediate section and are provided with nuts 12, which engage or enter the countersinks of the apertures lthat may receive said bolts. Between the heads Vof the bolts andthe outer face of the intermediate section, washers 13 are provided, to avoid wear on the intermediate section, as well as preventing` the heads of the bolts from tending to pull through the slots. A single screw 14- passes through the interine diate section at a `point substantially equally between the ends of the intermediate section and also between the adjacent ends of th-e end sections, and into the window frame. The screw 14 has a washer 15, which is positioned between the head of the screw and the outer face of the intermediate section.

Secured by the screws or the like 1G, upon the outer faces of the end sections, near their outer ends, are suitable brackets 17. The outwardly extending portions 18 of said brackets are provided with bifurcations 19, which cause the forks 2() and 21 to be formed. However, it will be noted that the crotch 22 of the bifurcation of one of said brackets is very narrow, in order to permit the insertion of the fiat pintle 23, which is used to wind the spring (not shown) of the shade roller 24|. The crotch 25 of the bifur cation of the other bracket is semi-circular, and large enough to receive the cylindrical pintle 2G of the other end of the shade roller, which is provided with the usual shade 27. Pivotally mounted upon the pins 28 of the forks 21 of both brackets, are latch members 29. Each latch member is U- shaped in cross section, as shown, and arches over the fork 21. It is to be noted that the pivot pins 28 are nearer the outer ends of said latch members than their inner ends, so

that the inner ends (the side flanges of which overlie the bifurcations adjacent their crotches) of said latches will fallin the pathj of the pintles 23 and 26, to hold them in place. The lower edges of the side flanges of the latches are inclined, as shown inFigyt-clearly, whereby, when inserting Y io the shade roller, the pintles will cam against said edgesand lift the'inner ends of said latches, whereby the inner ends of the latches, when the pintles reach the crotches,

will fallin the path of said pintles by gravitation, thereby holding the shade roller in place.v When hanging the shade and its -roller, the roller is mounted in the brackets,
