To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN F. MOODY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Huttig, in the county of Union, State of Arkansas, have invented a new and useful Lace or Ruching Holding Card; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to an improved holder for laces, ruchings, ribbons and the like, and one ofthe objects of the invention is to provide a device of this kind in which improved features of construction are involved.
Heretofore, in unreeling laces, ruchings, ribbons and the like, and severing the desired amount from the bolt for the cus tomer, frequently the severed end, if not pinned, becomes rumpled, and entangled with the ruchings or laces and the like from the other bolts.
However, when the severed end is pinned to the bolt, the pin very often tears the other laces and the like, or becomes hooked therewith, when removing and replacing the bolt on the shelf.
Therefore, one of the objects of the invention is to provide means to prevent the free end of the lace or ruching from becoming entangled, said means consisting of an elastic band carried by the card, andto engage about the card, to hold the severed end of the lace or ruching in place.
A further object of the invention is to overcome the disadvantage of employing a pin or similar fastener. V
A further object of the invention is to provide means for holding the elastic fabric band from becoming entangled with the lace or ruching, while unreeling the same from the bolt.
In practical fields, the details of construction may necessitate alterations falling within the scope of what is claimed.
The invention comprises further features and combination of parts, as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings and claimed.
In the drawings Figure l is a view in perspective of a bolt of lace or ruching on a card, showing the improved lace holding means applied thereto.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view, showing the lace holding means arranged, whereby the lace or ruching may be unreeled, which is illustrated in said figure.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing the lace holding means at one end only.
Referring more especially to the drawings, 1 designates a card or the like, which may be constructed of any suitable material, preferably wood or cardboard, and on which the lace, ribbon or ruching or the like may be wound, as shown in the drawings. The opposite end edges of the card are scooped or concaved, as shown at 2, thereby causing the curved shoulders 3 to be formed, serving to prevent the ruching, lace or the like from slipping over the corners of the card. The card at diagonal opposite ends is provided with apertures In each aperture an elastic fabric band 5 is arranged, as shown in the drawings. This band, when the card of lace or ruching or the like is on the shelf upon display extends about one of the longitudinal edges of the card, as shown at 6, to hold the severed end portion of the lace or ruching against the bolt, and from becoming entangled with the other lace or ruching, thereby dispensing with fasteners, such as pins and the like. However, when the lace or ruching or the like, is being unreeled from the card, each band is disengaged from its respective edge of the card,
and disposed in engagement with a notch 7, thereby holding the band, when unreeling the lace or ruehing. It is to be noted the notches 7 are arranged adjacent the diagonal opposite corners or ends of the card. By the provision of said elastic fabric bands, the severed free end portion of the lace or ruching, regardless of where it terminates, may be held from becoming entangled with other bolts of laces, ruchings or the li e.
