` Another object is to provide a device of this character, which may be supported directly upon a pane of glass, in a window or a door, within the View of a dealer, in such manner as to indicate to him just what the wishes of the householder are, Without loss of time or unnecessary labor.

Another object is to provide an indicatorA of simple construction, which is susceptible of manufacture at such low cost, as to render the same valuable as an advertising medium, which ma be given away by dealers, having thelr advertisements imprinted upon the device.

A full and complete understanding of the' invention will be obtained upon a careful consideration of the following detailed description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification; it being understood that while the drawing shows a practical form of the invention, the latter is not confined to strict conformity therewith, but may be changed or modified, so long as such changes or modifications mark no material departure from the salient features of the invention, as specifically pointed out in the claims hereto appended;

ranged at the top and bottom thereof, the' upper tongues being preferably provided with apertures 3 for the purpose of conveniently supporting the device upon a nail, or the like, when the device is not in use.

A sight opening 4 is provided in the base member l, and is pre erably, though not necessarily, formed by cutting out an arcuate portion at vthe top of' the base member, for the purpose of exposing certain indicia, as will be explained. The circular base member l is provided with a central pivotal post .5, which is formed of rubber, and passed through a suitable opening 6 formed in the base member l and having upon its rear end ahead 7, and upon its front end a somewhat enlarged head 8 formed in the usual shape of a vacuum cup for the purpose of applying the device to a window pane, in a well known manner. These heads are formed integral with the pivot ost and are, consequently, susceptible of) considerable yielding movement. v

A rotatable disk 9 is mounted upon the shank of the pivot post 5 in rear of the circular base member l, and is adapted to be rotated in either direction, to bring certain indicia, printed thereon, into register with the sight opening 4c in the base member 1.

The squeezing action of the heads 7 and 8 of the pivotal post 5 tends to force the base member l and the disk 9 together, so that the frictional engagement therebetween, will hold the disk in its adjusted position.

. A circular series of finger-receiving openings 10 are formed in the disk 9 in spaced relation to the pivot 5, and are adapted to receive the finger of the operator in order 4to facilitate the rotary movement of the disk 9, to bring any desired character into view through the opening 4. A slot 12 -is formed in the rotary disk 9 and extends from one of the finger-receiving openings to a central point, and there connects with the pivot-receiving opening 13 formed in the centervof the disk 9. The slot 12 tapers toward the central opening 13 and is for the purpose of permitting the passage'I of the pivot post 5 therethrough, when assemblin the parts. The head 7 of the ivot post wi l pass freely through the ger opening 10, and the lshank of the post is then forced through the tapering slot-.12 when the shank of the post Will enter the central opening 13 of the disk 9 and slightly expand therein, thus preventing the accidental displacement of the disk 9. i'

The characters employed 'in the resent showing of the invention are in the orm of a series of numbers 14 and are adapted to indicate the number of pounds of ice desired by the householder. employed, such, for instance, as would be necessary to indicate the desired amount of milk, or other commodity. j

From the foregoing it will be seen that an extremely simple indicating device has been designed, which may be easily and quickly applied to a pane of glass in a door or window, and which may be easily adjusted by the householder, from within, to indicate to a deliveryman, outside of the house, just what is desired vof him, thus resultingin a great saving of time and labor. l

The remainder of the space upon thefront of the base member 1 is well adapted for' advertisements, as indicated at 15, or any other desired information may be applied thereto. Thus the device is well suited as an advertising medium.

What is claimed is 1. An indicating device comprising a front member provided with a sight opening, arotatable disk pivotally mounted on the back of the front member and having indicia imprinted on the front face thereof, said indicia being adapted to be brought into register with said sight opening, a centrally located compressible pivot having a head at either end, said heads yieldably lholding the front member and disk together .to maintain certain of the indicia Withln rubber pivot, a sight opening formed in the front card in spaced relation to the pivot, an adjustable indicating lcard mounted for rotation on the pivot,in rear of the front card, and provided with a circular series of characters on the front face thereof and in alinement with the said sight opening, heads formed on the ends of the pivot to causea frictional engagement between the abutting faces of the cards, and a vacuum cup provided in 'the front face of the front head.

3. An indicating device comprising a base member provided with a iexible, centrally# disposed pivot having a head at each end, a vacuum cup formed in that head in front of the base member, a sight opening provided in the said member, a rotatable indicating card, mounted on the pivot, in rear of the base member, and yhaving a circular series of characters on the front face thereof, said card having a series of finger openings provided therein, whereby the card maybe rotated to bring certain of the indicia into register with the sight opening, and characters provided on vthe back adjacent to the fingerl openings and corresponding to the characters on the front.

4.` An indicating device comprising a base member provided with a flexible, centrallydisposed pivot having a head at each end, a vacuum cup formed in that head in front of thebase member, a sight opening provided .vided therein, and a slot connecting one of the finger openings with the central pivot openlng to permit of the entrance of the ad# jacent head of the flexible pivot, when assembling the device.
