To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, VIRDA R. BROWN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Garfield, in the county of Breckinridge, State of Kentucky, have invented a new and useful Machine for Trimming and Cutting VVall-Paper; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to a machine for trimming wall paper, and an object of the invention is to provide a machine of this design which involves improved features of construction.

One of the features of construction is the provision of improved trimming means for trimming the paper as it leaves the roll, and to suspend the trimming means under the table to prevent the cutting edges of the trimming members from being injured.

Another object of the invention is to provide guides for the paper, and which guides support the trimming members, the guides being adjustable toward each other to accommodate paper of different widths.

In practical fields the details of construction may necessitate alterations, falling within the scope of what is claimed.

The invention comprises further features and combination of parts, as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings and claimed.

Referring more especially to the drawings, there is shown a portion of a paper hangers table, whereby wall paper may be supplied with paste as the paper is unreclcd and laid on the table. The table has suit able sides 26. Extending transversely of and connecting the sides of the table is a strip 6, extending from which are longitudinal strips 9 for the support of wall paper, as it is trimmed and supplied with paste. Connecting the sides 26 of the table are transverse rods 97 and 28, which are engaged by the hooks 29 of the paste recep tacle 30, for supporting said receptacle. Upon the inner faces of said sides 26 plates 81' are secured as at 82. These plates 31 are provided with diverging oppositely disposed bearing slots 33 and The oppositely disposed slots receive the pintles 35 of the roller 86, over which the wall paper 37 from the roll 38 of paper travels, as the paste is applied to the wall paper by the paste roller 39. The oppositely disposed slots 84 receive the ends of the rod 40, on which the angular levers ll are pivoted. The lower ends of the angular levers 41 receive the pintles l2 of the paste roller 39, which is held against the wall paper as it passes over the roller 36, by means of the springs 43. The upper ends of the springs l3 are connected to the upper ends of the levers L1, whereas the other ends of the springs 43 are connected at r'lfil to the sides 26. Secured at 45 to the outer faces of the sides of the section 3 are opposite disposed plates 46, which are connected by a plurality of rods 47. Adjustably mounted on the rods 47 are plates 48, which are angular in plan view, there being set screws 49 for holding the plates 48 in adjusted position, that is, when adjusted toward and from each other. Each of the plates 48 is slotted horizontally as shown at 50, to form the upper and lower arms 51 and 52. The rods 4L7 extend through the arms 51 of saidplates 48, while the lower arms 52 are capable of yielding. The adjacent free end portions of the arms 51 and 52 of each plate 48 are constructed with recesses 54 and 55, in which the cutting me1nbers 56 and 57 are journaled upon the pins 58. The cutting edge portion of the cutedge portions of the wall paper are trimmed, by the cutting member. As the opposite edge portions of the paper are trimmed by the cutting members, the arms 52 yield toward and from the arms 51. The roll.3S of wall paper is designed to be mounted upon a rod 60, which is mounted in bearings of the bracket arms 61'of the opposite sides 26 of the table. After the roll of paper is so mounted, the opposite edge portions of the paper arepassed through the slots of the plates 48, after which the paper is passed between the rolls 36 and 39. The paper is pulled from the roll 38, and as it passes through the slots 50 of the plates a8 the opposite edges thereof are trimmed, and as the paper passes between the rolls 36 and 3.), paste from theroller 39 is automatically applied to the paper. After the required length of paper is trimmed and applied with paste, and is lying upon the upper faces of the bars 9 of the two sections of the table, a knife may be drawn transversely across the paper over the slot 63 (which is formed by a strip or bar 6% being arranged parallel to but at a spaced interval from the bar 6), thereby severing the required length of paper from the main body of paper.

The invention having been set forth, what is claimed as new and useful is 1. In combination, a frame, oppositely disposed plates secured to opposite sides of the frame, a plurality of rods connecting the lower ends of said plates, a pair of plates angular in plan view being adjustable and toward each other and adjustably mounted upon said rod, said angularplates being slotted causing the formation of upper and lower arms, and through which slot wall paper is adapted to pass, one arm of each angular plate being yieldable, and circular cutting members mounted in said arms.

In combination, a frame, oppositely disposed plates secured to opposite sides of the frame, a plurality of rods connecting the lower-ends of said plates, a pair of plates angular in plan view being adjustable and toward each other and adjustably mounted upon said rods, said angular plates being slotted causing the formation of upper and lower arms, and through which slot wall paper is adapted to pass, one arm of each angular plate being'yieldable, and circr'ilar cutting members mounted in said arms,'and means for holding the angular plates in adjusted position.

In a wall paper trimming machine, the combination of a frame and a pair of hangers on the under face of the frame adjacent its opposite edges 'forthe support of a roll of wall paper, of a .pair of plates secured 'to'the opposite edges of the frame and projecting downwardly, a plurality of rods connectingthe lower ends of said plates, a pair of wall paper guides on said rods, means for holding the guides on the rods, each guide'in edge plan view being angular and constructed from a single plate, one arm of eachangular plate extending laterally outwardly, the other arm of each angular plate extending in a plane with the longitudinal plane of the frame, each plate being slotted through both arms forming upper and lower parts, the upper part of the arm that extends in aplane longitudinal of the frame being carried on the said rods,

while the lowerpart of eachplateis yield- 'able, and clrcular cutting membersmounted in the extremities of'the upper and lower parts of each-plate.
