Description

C. H. HOLDREDGE.
GAME.
APPLICATION EILED JAN-13,1917- 1,%1,608., Patented July 3, 1917.
I (W 3 vim! -1 a I? 4 H:
@TAT
; ATENT ornbn GAME.
Application filed January To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES H. HoL- DREDGE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Stonington, in the county of New London and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Games, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to certain improvements in games and has relation more particularly to a device of this general character, wherein surface projectiles are employed and it is an object of the invention to provide a novel and improved device of this general character including a playing field having stalls or receptacles arranged thereon of differing identities and wherein a plurality of pairs of projectiles are adapted to traverse the board and be seated within a selected stall or receptacle, each pair of pro jectiles being provided with an identity c0rresponding to that of one of the stalls or receptacles.
the portion of the board provided with the stalls or receptacles is divided or separated from the remainder of the board by a partition or barrier, said partition or barrier having a gateway at a predetermined point intermediate its length. 7
The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved game whereby certain important ad vantages are attained and the device is rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, all as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
The novel features of the invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.
In order that my invention may be the etter understood, I will now proceed to de scribe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, whereinigure 1 is a view in top plan of a game constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention; and
Fig. 2 is a sectionalview taken substan tially on the line 22 of Fig. 1.
s disclosed in the accompanying drawings, B denotes a board of predetermined di- Specification of Letters Patent.
lPatentedJuly 3, 191% 13, 1917. Serial No. 142,267.
maining stalls so that it may have a distinctive identity.
The board B has also disposed thereacross the straight partition or barrier 3 in predetermined spaced relation to the inner or open ends of the stalls or receptacles R and extending substantially parallel to said stalls. At substantially its longitudinal center the partition or barrier 3 is provided with the opening or gateway 4:- The open or inner ends of the partition or barrier 3, and the space between the inner or open ends of the stalls or recep tacles 2 and the partition or barrier 3 is free and unobstructe denotes a plurality of projectiles, preferably spherical bodies, arranged in pairs of corresponding identity as preferably deter mined by color, and the pairs of projectiles P are colored in accordance with the various colors of the stalls or receptacles R. The
pair are of different diameters and in playing the game a projectile of each pair is intended to represent a cow and the second projectile of the same pair 1s adapted to represent a calf.
The object of the game is to cause the projectiles to pass from the portion of the board B at the side of the partition or barrier 3 remote from the stalls or receptacles R, through the opening or gateway 4c and into said stalls or receptacles R and in such a manner that the pairs of projectiles will be delivered into the receptacles or stalls R of a similar identity or color.
It is thought to be self-evident that my improved game is one which will afiord a great deal of amusement yet at the same time require skill in the playing of the same.
From the foregoing description, it is thought to be obvious that a game constructed in accordance with my invention is of an extremely simple and comparatively inexpensive nature and is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled, and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and stalls or receptacles R face the pair being of modilicatirm without material departure from the principles and sp rit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise ar: y
rangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice, except as hereinafterclaimed.
I claim:
1-. A game comprising a playing field provided with a series of receptacles positioned adjacent a margin thereof, a partition disposed across the field and spaced from the receptacles, said partition being provided with an opening, and a plurality of pairs of rolling projectiles adapted to traverse the playing field, a pair of rolling projectiles and a receptacle being provided with corresponding identities, the projectiles of each different diameters.
2. A game comprising a playing field provided with a series of receptacles positioned adjacent a margin thereof, a partitioi'i disposed across the field and spaced from the receptacles, said partition being provided with an opening, the receptacles being provided with open ends facing the partition, the space between the partition and the open ends of the receptacles being free and un- Copis of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the obstructed, and a plurality of pairs of projectiles adapted to traverse the playing field, a pair of projectiles and a receptacle being provided with corresponding identities, the partition being disposed substantially parallel to the marginal portion of the field provided with the receptacles.
'3. A game comprising a playing field provided with a series of receptacles positioned adjacent a margin thereof, a partition disposed across the field and spaced from the receptacles, said partition being provided with an opening, the receptacles being provided with open ends facing the partition the space between the partition and the open ends of the receptacles being free and unobstructed, and plurality of pairs of projectiles adapted to traverse the playing field, a pair of projectiles and a receptacle being provided with corresponding identities, the opening in the partition being substantially at the longitudinal center thereof.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
