To all whom it may concern.

Be it known that I, NELLIE RYAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Buena Park, in the county of Orange and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Calendars, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a calendar and particularly pertains to a combined calendar and diary.

It is an object of this invention to provide calendar sheets upon one side of which the customary monthly dates are printed and the other side of which is scored with spaces numbered to correspond to the days of the month, and upon which notations or memoranda may be written.

Another object of this invention is to provide a special mounting for the calendar sheets so that they may be turned over and out of the way without the necessity of tearing them from the calendar to observe the succeeding month.

Another object of this inventlon is to provide the calendar mounting and binding with a pencil receiving member which is conveniently secured upon the calendar and adjacent the calendar sheets.

Other objects will appear hereinafter.

The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which:

Figure 1 is a view in front elevation of a calendar fitted with the special calendar sheets and binding as used in this invention.

Fig. 2 is a view in vertical section as seen on the line 22 of Fig. 1 and illustrates the manner in which the calendar leaves are turned over and behind the main portion of the calendar sheets.

Fig. 3 is a view in horizontal section taken on the line 33 of Fig. 1 and particularly shows the disposition of the calendar leaf binding in relation to the calendar back as well as the pencil holder formed integral with said binding.

Referring to the drawings, and particularly to Figs. 1, 2 and S in which the preferred form of this invention is illustrated, 10 indicates a calendar back which is preferably formed of cardboard or heavy paper Specification of Letters Patent.

and may be of any desired size or shape. A calendar sheet pad 11 is secured upon the front of the member 10 by means of a metallic binding member 12 which extends parallel to the surface of the member 10 and is off-set therefrom by means of end portions 13 and 1% formed with tangs 15 and 16 which extend through the back member 10 and act to secure the calendar pad in a rigid position in front of and in spaced relation to the calendar back. A cylindrical resilient pencil receiving member 17 is formed at the end 14- of the binding member 12 and is of suitable diameter to receive and yieldably hold a pencil when deposited therein.

lVhen using this device as a combined calendar and diary, the calendar leaves are referred to in regard to dates and the sheets are then turned over where entries may be made in the space provided for and indicated by any given day of the month. It is evident that the calendar leaves can be arranged so that the months will appear consecutively either from the front or the rear of the pad and that diary sheets might be interposed between the calendar sheets with the same result. When a month has elapsed, the sheet is turned upwardly and drawn down back of the calendar pad so that the calendar sheet for the ensuing month will be exposed to view. The calendar sheets are passed through the space between the pad binding and the calendar back, and it should be noted that it is not necessary to remove the calendar from the wall to turn the sheet through the slot formed by the bracket and the calendar back to move the sheet from view.

It will thus be seen that the combined calendar and diary here disclosed may be readily and conveniently utilized for various purposes. It is also evident that innumerable modifications could be made in the arrangement of the calendar pad and its mounting without departing from the spirit of the invention.

I claim:

A combination calendar and diary comprising a fiat support of sheet material, a horizontal binder bracket secured thereto, a

calendar pad having its upper marginal edge secured in said bracket, said pad comprising a series of calendar sheets, each sheet having a calendar printed on the front 5 side thereof and diary entry lines on the opposite side to correspond to said calendar days, said bracket being spaced from said flat support and forming a slot therewith, through which the sheet of the calendar may be turned to lie between the last sheet of 10 the calendar and said flat support.
