Be it known that we, WINriELn S. MARR, of llildreth, in the county of Franklin and Stateof Nebrasl a,`and JOHN E. NELSON, of Holdrege, in the county of Phelps and State of Nebraska, citizens of the United States, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Necktie-Adjusters, of which the 'following is `a specification.

One of the principal objects of our invention is to provide an improved necktie adjuster in the nature of a strip of iieXible metal having means for securing it within a collar between the folds thereof, the metallic band being fitted at its ends with loops around which the necktie is adapted to be caught, whereby the tie may be readily slipped back and forth to acquire the correct adjustment, and whereby much shorter neckties than now commonly in use, may be used.

A further object of the invention is to provide an improved device of the class described which will be extremely simple, durable, efficient in operation, and inexpensive to manufacture.

lVith these and other objects in view which will become apparent as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the construction, combination, and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described and claimed, and illustrated in the accon1- panying drawings in which like characters of reference indicate like parts throughout the severalfigures, of which-- Figure l represents a view in perspective of a collar, partly broken away, equipped` with a -necktie adjuster constructed according to our invention.

In carrying ont our invention we provide a flexible band 5, formed preferably of somel suitable metal, said band being of a length somewhat less than the eircumterence o a collar with which it is to be used. At points spaced from its ends, the band is provided with suitable clasps G adapted to engage the inner fold of a collar adjacent its lower edge in the manner shown so as to position the band 5 between the folds of the collar. The

'ends ofband 5 are each provided with a sul'istantially triangular metallic loop 7, the loops being so arranged that one of their apices occurs adjacent the end of the band,

whereby when the device is in place in a,

collar, the outer leg 8 of each loop lies in substantially parallel relation with the analogous leg of the opposite loop, and in a vertical position.

lV hen the device is arranged within a collar in the manner shown in Fig. l, the loops 7 are disposed adjacenttheends of the Collar but are hidden by the folds thereof. In use the device is placed in the collar and a necktie is then passed through one of the loops 7 the collar put in place and buttoned, and the necktie then passed through the opposite loop and drawn and tied in the manner indicated in Fig. 1. lf found more convenient the necktie may be passed through the second loop before the front part of the collar is buttoned in place. By the use of a device such as'weprovide, it will be readily seen that the necktie may be quickly drawn through the loops, in adj listing the tie, without binding, so that the inconveniences ordinarily experienced when a necktie becomes bound in a collar, are done away with. Furthermore neckties of reduced length may be used in eoimection with this device, and will present as attractive appearance neckties of greater length.

Although we have described the preiferred embodiment of our invention, we may'desire to make such changes in the construction, combination, and arrangement of` parts thereof, as do not depart from the spirit of the in-vcnlinn and the scope of the appended claim.

A nccktie adjuster comprising a flexible metallic band having necktie receiving loops carried at its ends, and clasps carried by the .band at points spaced from its ends and adapted to engage the fold of av collar, such clasps being secured to the band at points adjacent the upper ends of the clasps Whereby to entirely conceal the adjuster between the folds of the collar and whereby to properly position the loops With respect to the justment of the tie knot.
