To a whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, OTTO MUELLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rich: mond, in the county of Contra Costa, State of California, have invented a new and useful Bracket, of which theyfollowing' is a specification, in such full and clear terms as will enable those skilled in the art to construct and use the same.

This invention relates to a bracket for supporting a typewriter, plates or books as may be desired, and its object is to produce a simple and strong form of bracket having considerable strength which can be swung from one position to another to suit the convenience of the user.

Another object of the invention is to produce a bracket which can be easily changed from one position to another according to the desires of the user, only two screw eyes being required to support the bracket.

Another object of the invention is to provide means whereby the bracket may be fixed in one position or another as may be desired by the user.

An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing in which the same reference numeral is applied to the same portion throughout, but I am aware that there may be many modifications thereof.

hen the stand is used in conjunction with a desk a screw eye 14 may be inserted in the lower portion of the desk 15 while in the desk cover 16 a hole is bored at the corner to receive the rod 5, said hole being placed in such a position as to enable the stand 12 to be turned in front of the desk or turned back entirely out of the way at the end of the desk as may be desired.

hen it is desired to use the stand in conjunction with a bed a pair of clamps 17 and 18 may be used. Said clamps each have a large eye 19 and a smaller eye 20 to receive the rod 5, while a screw 21 is used to draw the clamps up tightly on the bed leg 22'. The clamps may be placed at any suitable height from the floor at the convenience of the user.

In the form of the invention shown in Fig. 6 the parts are substantially identical with the form of the invention shown in the other figures, save that the bracket is provided with only one brace.

An advantage of this bracket lies in the fact that it is very easily connected to or disconnected from any wall or other place where it may be used by simply removing two screws, as well as in the fact that it is movable thereby enabling a stand or other top carried thereby to be moved from one position to another as may be demanded.

The lugs 6 and 7 are made long enough so that they provide room for a pivot pin for the lever 23, said lever having an eccentric portion 23 which bears on the rod 5 to hold the bracket or stand in a fixed position with respect to said rod, and inasmuch as said rod may be provided with a squared portion.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is as follows, express reservation being made of permissible modifications thereof:

1. A bracket comprising a tubular standard, a pin adapted to pass through the tubular standard for connecting the bracket to suitable supports, an integral horizontally extending member connected with the tubu lar standard, a stand top connected to the horizontally extending member, and braces connected to said stand top and to the first brace on each side of the horizontally extending member.

2. A bracket comprising a tubular standard, a pin adapted to pass through the tubular standard for connecting the bracket to suitable supports, an integral horizontally extending member connected to the tubular standard, a brace connected to the tubular standard and the horizontally extending member, and an eccentric lever for locking the position of the bracket With respect to the supporting pin therefor.
