Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 122,343, dated January 2, 1872.
SPECIFICATION.
Specification describing certain improvements in Piano-Pedal Stools, invented by JOEL HENRY WELLS, of Chicago, Cook county, Illinois.
My invention consists oi a square box, (or of any convenient shape or size,) haw-'ing upon one side carved openin gs near the bottom, as shown at P It P, in Figure l, a perspective view ot" a machine embodying my invention, these openinOs being for the purpose of a-llowii'ig the ma chine or stool to stand over the pedals of a piano-forte.
In the top of the stool are two levers, B B, lying dat with the surface when not in use, hinged toward the heels ofthe player at A A, and connected with the levers O C underneath by means ofthe connecting-rods x a; hinged at H H, as shown in the vertical section, Fig. 2, the levers C O being hinged toward the heels of the performer at a` a., and resting upon the pedals at the points. These levers havin gconsiderable vertical motion, and the curved openings being of sufficient size, the stool adjusts itselfl to pedals of various sizes and heights.
This machine is opera-ted by the toes ot' the pla ver touching the levers B B, pressure being communicated to the permanent pedals through the connecting-rods x and levers O C, needing no spring or other attachment than those shown and described hereinbefore. This machine being ot' convenient forni and size, easily attached or detached, is adapted to use as a common foot-stool.
