Be it known that l, JUL1Us-H. P oPP, a citizen of the United States, residing at Haven, in thecounty of Reno and -State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Vending-Machines, of which the following is a specification.
, This invention relates to a coin controlled machine of the vending type and the principal o ject of the invention is to provide a machine which may be connected with a ,pump for dispensing gasolene or other ,'liquids, the attachment normally locking the plunger of the pump against vertical movement and temporarily permitting vertical movement lof the pump plunger when a coin isinsterted. The housing 10 is provided in its bottomV with an opening 11 which registers with an opening 12 inthe upper wall ofthe receptacle 13 inwhich the money drawer 14 y is'mounted so at coins may drop from the 05 slide 15 into the money drawer.' This slide 15.is slidably mounted ,upon the 'track 16 and is provided with side notches 17 in which the coin will lit. This slide 23 is provided with arms 24 which extend -up0n opposite sides of the rack bar 20 and further carries a hood 25 75 provided with side arms 26 which extend upon opposite sides of the rack bar above the arms 24. Latches 27 and 28 are pivotal'ly lmounted between the arms 24 and are connected by means of the links 29, the links being pivotally connected with the latch 27 and pivotally and slidably connectedwith the' latch 28` as clearly shown in' Fig. l. Springs 30 and 31 are provided to yieldably hold the llatches in an operative position, the 4spring 30 being stronger. than the spring 31 so that when the device is in the position'shown in Fig. 1, the latch 27 will be in an operative position and the latch 28 in an inoperative position. It' should 90 be noted that the latch 27 is provided with a handle 32vextending into the slot 11 so that when the plunger 18 is moved inwardly7 the 'coin placed in the groove 17 of the coin carrier 1'5, will engage this latch and swing 95. the sameto,an inoperative position thus permitting the fork 33 to drop of its own weight and engage the pin 311 and releasablyhold the latch 27 out of engagement with the rack bar. The spring 31 will then move the latch 28 into engagement with the rack bar and prevent the slide 23 from movingl downwardly. A hook 35 is connected with one of the arms 24 of this slide and `when the carrying block 15 is moved inwardly, will engagethe block and'hold it in tlhe adjusted posi tion until the slide has'hecn i raised.y It will thus be seen that with this construction, the pumpV locking slide will be releasably held against vertical movemex.v "lo under normal conditions and that when the v coin is inserted and the plunger moved inwardly, the locking mechanism Will'- be shifted and the slide but the slide .isl downwardly upon the rack bar by the latch 28 until the handle of the fork 33 strikes the adjustable abutment :B6 mounted upon the rod 37.
