To all whom it may concern:
Tygee Valley, county of Bannock, State of Idaho, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toys, of which the following is a specification.
My toy which are possible thus to provide that a part which may rapidly deteriorate or become destroyed may be replaced without the expense and ditficulty of procuring an entirely new toy. The outer portion of the toy is preferably of such a character that it may be readily cleansed and so kept in a sanitary condition without re ard to the treatment the toy may receive while in use.
In the specific embodiment which I have illustrated in the drawings I provide an outer covering preferably made of a washable fabric Which may be in the shape of shown or in any other desirable shape. Within the cover may be placed an ordinary inflatable rubber bladder or balloon preferably provided with the usual check valve at the mouth. The balloon may thus be inserted within the cover and then in-' flated to give body to the toy.
In the accompanying drawing Figure 1 shows a perspective of a toy as it appears with the balloon inflated, the balloon being indicated in dotted lines. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of a portion of the toy showing the neck of the balloon. protruding so that it is accessible for inflation. Fig. 3 is a section on the line 33 of'Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a section similar to Fig. 3 showing the balloon inflated and the neck carrying the check valve in place within the cover. Fig. 5 is a perspective of the deflated balloon.
The balloon 1 may be provided wlth any suitable means for holding the air in it. I show a check valve 2 in its neck 3 so arranged that the balloon may be inflated and the air retained in it by the check valve. I

In Fig. 1, I have shown the cover shaped to simulate the form of a rabbit, the mam body portion of the animal being distended by the inflated balloon shown in dotted lines. A specially shaped balloon might be used to fill out head 5 and legs 6 and 7 of the rabbit but I prefer to stuff the head 5 andthe legs 6 and 7 with some suitable padding such as cotton. At a suitable point in the cover 4 an aperture 8 is left through which the body 1 of the balloon may be inserted and through which the neck 3 may extend for inflation. After the balloon is inflated I prefer to thrust the neck bearing the valve 2 within the cover 4 as shown in Fig. 4. To properly hold it in place and cover the aperture 8 I provide a suitable tongue or flap 9 which, as shown in Fig. 4, will fit snugly, and be held between the body of the balloon 1 and the cover 4.
I prefer to make the cover of such material and shape that it can be readily separated from the balloon and cleaned from time to time and I prefer to use an ordinary toy balloon of regular shape so that it may be possible to have more than one cover for the balloon and thus provide a variety of light, sanitary toys at a moderate expense. By using a stock balloon it is possible to replace a broken balloon within the toy cover and thus, in effect, provide a new toy at slight expense,
I claim as my invention: 1

A toy comprising a removable flexible cover made of washable material and having an irregularly shaped cavity and an aperture, an inflatable balloon inserted through the aperture into the cavity and adapted to distend the cover about the cavity, a check valve in the balloon and a flap cover for the aperture.
