To all whom it may concern:

Be it known. that I, (ieouon L. Gnmsnr, a citizen of the United States, residing at W'aitsburg, in the county of \Valla lValla and State of \Vashington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trace- Loops, of which the following is a. specification. i

This invention relates to trace loops and more particularly to an improvement in the loops which are employed to fasten the hip straps to the breeching and shoulder straps of a harness to the trace.

The primary object of the invention is the provision of a loop adapted to be fastened to the trace or to the brecching which will be brovided with means for preventing the end of the hip strap or slmulder strap from wearing or injuring the leather of which the bieeching or trace is constructed.

A further object of this invention .is the provision of a loop which consists of comparatively few parts and is simple in construction, but durable and well adapted to withstand the rough usage to which devices of-this character are ordinarily subjected.

It is well known, 1n the art of harness making, that the loops at the ends of the saddle strap, and belly-band which are attached tothe traces, constantly strike against the edge of the traces thereby causing the leather to become worn so that the traces are weakened, making repairs necessary. it is my intention to obviate this defect by protecting the edge of the trace from contacting with the ends of the loops on the saddle strap, belly-baml and shoulder strap.

The upwardly extending arms 3 are slightly rearwa'rdly curved for disposing the sleeve directly above the center of the flange 9 whereby the loop B tormedin the end of the saddle strap will contact in its downward movement with the flange 9 and protect the edge of the trace A.

Depending from the lower edge of the plate 2 is a pair of arms 3 which are similar in construction to the arms 3 and supporting the rod 4 upon which the sleeve 5' is mounted. A brace arm 10 connects the arms 3' and is disposed at the lower edge of the trace A and has its lower edge extending slightly below the edge of the trace A. The sleevefi receives the loop C formed in the ends of the belly-band of the harness and the brace 10, by virtue of its extended edge, prevents the loop (i from striking the lower edge of the trace A.
