. WINDOW-SHADE BRACKET.
Application filed September 27, 1916.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT R. BRIDGES, a citizen of the Unitted States, residing at Geneva, in the county of Ontario, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Window Shade Brackets; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact-description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The present invention is directed to improvements in window shade brackets, and has for its object to provide a device of this character constructed in such a manner that it can be readily attached to or removed from the window frame without the necessity of disassembling the bracket or removing the supporting screws from the frame.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character constructed in such a manner that when in place 'upon the frame it will be held securely in place thereon, but can be readily removed without the aid of tools.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a shade bracket which is extremely simple in construction, durable, and one which can be manufactured at a minimum cost.
lVith these and other objects this invention resides in the novel features of construc- The bracket comprises a plate 1, said plate having one of its side edges terminating in an arm 2, said arm beingprovided with a bearing 3 for engaging one end of the conventional spring roller. The other edge of the plate is provided with an ear 4, said ear having a bearing 5 formed therein which is Copies of this patent may be obtained for Specification of Letters Patent. Serial No. 122,435.
slot 10 formed in the plate 1, said slots being adapted to engage the screw 11 which is carried by the window frame.
An angle lever 12 is provided and has its head 13 provided with trunnions 14 which are pivotally engaged in the bearings 5 and 6. The handle 15 of the lever is engageable between the furcations 8, and when the handle is forced toward the plate 7 it is obvious that the head 13 will flex the plate 7 outwardly so that said plate will be forced into yielding engagement with the head of the screw 11, thus firmly holding the bracket in place. It will be further noted that weight of the shade roller will tend to hold the screw 11 in the slotted part of the key-hole slot 10.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that abracket has been provided which can be attached to'a window frame with a single screw, and that the handle15 of the lever can be readily operated to attach or detach the device.
What is claimed is 2- A shade roller bracket comprising a plate, a spring plate having one end fixed to the plate and having its other end provided with furcations, a lever including a head and handle, means for pivotally connecting the lever with the plate, said plate and spring plate having key-hole slots formed therein for engaging a screw, the handle of the lever being operable between the furcations for forcing the head into engagement with the furcations, whereby the spring plate is flexed outwardly into yielding engagement with the head of the screw.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
ROBERT R. BRIDGES.
