SEALING-WAX TORCH.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 27, 1917.
Application filed August 29, 1914. Serial No. 859,225.
To all whom it may, concern Be it known that I, WALTER S. MARTIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Canton, in the county of Haywood and State of North Carolina, have invented a new and useful Sealing- /Vax Torch, of which the following is a specification. I
The present invention relates to improvements in a sealing wax torch, one object of the invention being the provision of a portable heater and container for sealing wax, whereby the wax in limited quantities may be melted and be directed by the manual manipulation of the present torch to pour or direct the same upon the article to be sealed, thus producing a ready device of this character which prevents undue waste of the wax and at the same time maintains the wax in Y the desired heated or melted state.
A further object of the present invention, is the provision of a device of this character, which is simple, inexpensive and ornamental in construction and thoroughly efiicient and practical in use.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Referring to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates the torch which is indicative of any construction or form of torch that will accomplish the purpose desired, the same being provided with a handle 2 and an upturned burner 3 at one side carrying a wick 4. A filling cap 5 is provided so that the torch may be filled.
Upstancling from the body of the torch is the long bracket 6 and the short bracket 7 which support the tubular wax container 8 with the inlet end 9 the higher end, for the introduction of the hard wax. As shown in Fig. 3, the portion 10 of the container is copies of this patent may be obtained for elevation of the com-' broadened to produce the flame receiving and wax holding receptacle. The opposite end of the container is tapered to produce the upturned directing spout 11 which under normal conditions has its lower end disposed above the high level of the molten wax within the portion 10.
It will thus be seen that under normal conditions that the molten wax will be held within the container, the respective open ends thereof preventing any undue burning thereof as a circulation to some extent is set up therethrough. When it is desired to use the torch the handle complete device tilted so that the molten wax will be directed through and out of the spout 11 upon the article to be sealed.
Where so desired, the torch may be equipped with clips or holders by means of which one or more seals may be carried by the torch and thus be placed in ready access to the user.
It is also apparent that the torch body and also the wax container may be made ornamental or embellished and made of any desired sizes according to the amount of work required from the torch.
The torch in the present instance, is preferably an alcohol torch which makes it less objectionable as it does not soil the clothes or become sooty.
What is claimed is:
Arsealing wax torch having a burner and a tubular wax container carried by the torch, said container being inclined downwardly toward the vertical plane of the torch burner, provided above said burner with a laterally enlarged and flattened chamber, and thence reduced and inclined upwardly to an outlet above the upper wall of said chamber, whereby a tilting movement of the torch and container is necessary to discharge the contents of said chamber through the outlet. a In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
