To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WALTER MEYNER, citizen of the United States, and resident of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Toy, of which the following is a specification.

My present invention has for its objects to provide a simple and inexpensive form of toy which will be both interesting and amusing, which will be entertaining to those using it and to onlookers as well and which will be stimulative of healthful exercise.

In a general way the invention consists of a hoop, a movable figure of characteristic or ornamental appearance within the hoop, rollers riding on the inner periphery of the hoop and connected to operate the movable figure and a handle by means of which the device may be trundled along.

Details of the invention will appear as the specification proceeds, attention being directed to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof and wherein I have illustrated the invention embodied in several of a dog or like animal.

Fig. 2, is a similar view, illustrating the movable figure as in the form of a manikin.

In the several views, 5, designates the trundle or hoop, made large enough to be cashy trundled and to contain within it or support a figure of reasonable size.

In the first form shown the figure, 6, is made in the semblance of a dog or puppy, having movable elements in the shape of the jointed leg sections 7, 8.

9 designates rollers riding on the inner periphery of the hoop and connected in this instance to the movable sections of the figure by cranks 10, on the axles 11, of the rollers which carry crank pins 12, engaging the lower or outermost leg sections 8.

From this it will be seen that as the hoop is rolled along over a supporting surface the rollers will be rotated by their engagement with the inner periphery of the hoop and Specification of Letters Patent.

will by the connections described, impart a more or less natural movement to the legs, giving the figure the appearance of running along within the hoop.

A handle 13, is usually provided for handling the toy, this handle being shown connected at 1 1, with the figure and inclined upwardly and rearwardly to afIord a'convenient handheld for pushing the toy.

A convenient and practical method of constructing the .toy is to make it in counterpart sections 15, spaced apart a distance slightly greater than the thickness of the hoop and with portions 16, overlapping the edges of the hoop so as to confine the figure within the hoop, the supporting rollers when journaled between these sections, as indi cated, being then disposed in the plane of the track 17, which forms the inner periphery of the hoop.

An additional roller 18, or rollers may be provided, the rollers and the confining portions 16 being usually arranged in some what triangular relation, as shown, so as to hold the parts assembled, without binding.

In the second view the figure is in the form of a manikin 18, having jointed leg sections 19, 20, operated by a crank connection similar to and having the same reference characters as in the first view. A grotesque effect is obtained in this construction by pivoting the upper section 21, of the body at 22, and providing outstanding arms 23, which embrace the sides of the hoop and carry rollers 24, 25, bearing on the inner track 17 one of these rollers being journaled eccentrically as shown at 26, to impart a nodding or rocking movement to the upper body section head and arms of the figure.

In the" third form illustrated, the movable figure is in the shape of a disk 27, loosely confined between spaced members 28, and preferably ornamented by coloring or figured in some attractive way, said disk bearing on rollers 29, having a bearing on the inner periphery of the hoop.

In Fig. 4:, the object 30 is in the form of a grotesque manikin having bowed legs 31, in which are journaled rollers 32 on eccentric pivots 33, said. rollers having a bearing on the track 17,. forming the inner periphery of the hoop, said hoop being in this case more in the nature of a disk and the track being formed eccentrically in said disk.
