BATHING-CAP.

a citizen of. the United States, residing at- Ashland, in thel county of Ashland and State of Ohio, have invented certain. new and useful Improvements in Bathing-Caps, of whichthe following is a specification.

My invention relates to bathing caps, and has for its main object to provide an improved construction of the same, whereby said cap, when placed upon the head of the wearer, will form a. water-tight closure at its edge, and at the same time will not be open to the objection heretofore made to water-tight caps that they bind the head of the wearer to an uncomfortable degree. A further object of my invention is to provide the body ofthe cap with a pad fastened thereto,'preferably upon its inner surface, said pad being composed of sponge rubber and affording a protection to .the head of the wearer inrthe event that an object is-struck in diving.

These objects [accomplish in the manner and by the means hereinafter described and" claimed,.reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a' persp proved bathing cap.

In the said drawing, the reference numeral 1 denotes the body of the cap, which, as usual, is made of thin rubber, or any other material impervious to water, to afford a water-tight covering. At approximately its rim or edge, the cap is provided with a roll 2 of rubber cap band.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desireto secure by Letters Patent,1is:--

1. A bathing cap, embodying a flexlble water-proof body, and a band of sponge rubber.

2. A bathing. cap, embodying a flexible "water-proof body, and an unbroken band of sponge rubber, around which the edge-of i the cap is folded, said edge being cemented thereto and said edge and roll constituting the cap rim.
