A water-tube boiler comprising, in addition to the usual rear steam-disengaging and mud drums, front water-drum, and connecting water-tubes, forming a closed watercirculating system, a drum which is located in the front of the boiler casing with its lower side slightly below the normal level of the water in the boiler and is connected above the water level of the boiler with the rear steam-disengaging drum by steamsuperheat'ing tubes and below the water level of the boiler solely by a. water connection with the lower side of one of the said reary drums.
6. A water-tube boiler comprising, in ad dition to the usual rear-steam-disengaging and mud drums, front watendrum, and connecting water-tubes, forming a closed wa ter-circulating system, a drum which is lo.-
cated partly below and partly above the normal level of the water ,in the boiler and has "no direct connection with the front waterdrum, steamfsuperheating tubes which connect the said additional drum with the boiler above the normal water level therein, and a Water-pipe which connects the said additional drum at a point between its lower side and the normal water level of the boilerwith the lower side of' one of the said rear drums.

A water-tube boiler comprising, in addition to the usual drums and connecting water-tubes forming a closed water-circulating system, a steam-dome, means vfor maintaining within the lower part of the steam-domel a. quiescent body of water supplied thereto through a connection with the boiler at some point outside the ath of the steam therein, means for trans erring the steam generated within the boiler to the upsteam-dome as fast as it is collected therein. 8. A water-tube boiler comprising, in'ad-v dition tothe usual rear steam-disengaging and mud drums, front water-drum, andconnecting water-tubes, forming a closedwatercirculating system, a drum which is located in the front of the boiler casingpartly below and partly above the normal level of the water in the boiler and has no direct connection with the front water-drum, a waterpipe which connects the said additional drum at a pointbetween itslower side and the normal water level of the` boiler with the lower side of one of the said rear drums of the boiler at apoint outside the path of the steam therein, means for transferring steam from the upper part of the said rear steam' disengaging drum to the upper part of the said additional drum, means for superheating the steam during its transfer to and while in the said additional drum,and means for withdrawing ythe superheated steam from the said additional drum as fast as it collects therein.

A water-tube boiler comprising, in addition-to the usual rear steam-disengaging and mud drums, front water-drum, and connecting water-tubes, forming a closed water-circulating system, an undivided drum which is located in the front of the boiler casing slightly below and largely above the normal level of the water in the boiler and has no direct connection with the said front water-drum,Y means for maintaining within the lower part of the saidadditional drum a quiescent body of water suppliedfrom the lower part of one of the said rear drums outside the the upper part of the said additionaldrum, means for utilizing the hot gases which pass through the boiler to heat the steam while it is. bein 'transferred from the said rear steam-d1sengaging drum to the said addi-` ath of the steam therein, means for trans erring steam from the upper part .of the said rear steam-dlsengaging drum to
