To aZZ whom it may concern Be it known that I, HARRY J. VoLKwmN, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Pittsburgh, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hangers for Swings, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to hangers for swings, and has for its object to provide a device of such class, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, for supporting or pivoting in position the laterally suspending mem bers of the swing, and to further prevent the usual creaking, grinding or screeching noise heretofore experienced in connection with the suspending means or hangers for swings.

A further object of the invention is to provide a sleeve lubricating hanger for swings whereby the bearing elements of the hanger will be continuously lubricated to overcome the creaking or screeching noise usually present when swinging.

A further object of the invention is to provide a sleeve lubricating hanger for swings, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, so that the lubricant of oil will be so maintained to prevent any portion thereof contacting with the suspending members of the swing, under such conditions preventing any possibility of the garments of the person using the swing from becoming soiled.

Further objects of the invention are to provide a sleeve lubricating hanger for swings which is simple in its construction and arrangement, strong, durable, efficient and convenient in its use, readily set up and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture.

With the foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter more fully described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein is shown an embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications can be resorted to which come within the scope of the claims hereunto appended.

Referring to Figs. 1 to 41 of the drawings, 5 denotes a receptacle which is substantially oblong in plane, having an open top and a closed bottom, and adapted to contain a body of lubricant as indicated at 6. The bottom of the receptacle 5, centrally thereof, is formed with a discharge port 7, and the wall of said port 7 is threaded, and engaging with the threads of said wall is a peripherally threaded closure plug 8.

Each side of the receptacle 5, centrally thereof, has formed integral therewith a vertically extending hanger arm 9. The arms 9 are arranged parallel with respect to each other and have extending therebetween at their top, a lug 10, which depends from a plate 11, the latter having openings 12, for the passage of hold-fast devices, not shown, for a purpose of fixedly securing the plate 11 to a ceiling or other support. Extending through the upper ends of the arms 9 and lug is a headed bolt 13, which carries a nut 14, and washer 15, and said bolt 13 and nut 14 are utilized for fixedly securing the arms 9 to the lug l0.

The sides of the receptacle 5, centrally thereof, and below the arms 9, are provided with square openings 16-17, and seated in these said openings and extending across said receptacle 5 is a squared member 18. Formed integral with one end of the member 18 is a head 19 which abuts against the outer face of one of the sides of the recep tacle 5, and formed integral with the other end of the member 18, is a cylindrical threaded extension 20, carrying a washer 21 and a nut 22, for the purpose of connecting the member 18 to the receptacle 5.

Arranged within the receptacle 5, upon the member 18, is a cylindrical bearing 23, which has a squared opening 2 1, for the reception of the member 18. The bearing 23 extends from the inner face of one side of the receptacle to the inner face of the other side, and has mounted thereon a cylindrical bearing sleeve 25. The bearing sleeve 25 is capable of an oscillatory movement upon the bearing 23, and the said sleeve is provided with oppositely disposed openings 26, to enable the passage of lubricant to the bearing 23. Preferably the sleeve 25 is of less length than the bearing 23.

Referring to Figs. 1, 2 and 3 of the drawings, the bearing sleeve 25, illustrated in such figures, is provided with a crank arm 26, which merges into the inner edge of an annulus 27, the latter is provided with an eye 28, to which is connected the suspending member 29 of the swing.

Referring to Fig. 4 of the drawings, the bearing sleeve 25 illustrated therein is provided with a crank arm 29" of less length than the crank arm 26, and the crank arm 29 terminates in the depending upper end 30 of a curved bar 31 which is arranged exteriorly of one end of the receptacle 5, and is provided with an eye 32 having the sus pending member 33 of the swing connected thereto.

The annulus 27, and the bar 31 are termed hanger members.

WVhat I claim is 1. A hanger for swings comprising a receptacle adapted to contain a body or lubricant, means for suspending said receptacle from a support, a squared element extending across said receptacle and connected thereto, a bearing surrounding and having a squared opening in which is seated said element, an oscillatory bearing sleeve inclosing said bearing, a crank arm projecting from the bearing sleeve, and a hanger member integral with said arm and arranged exteriorly of said receptacle.

A hanger for swings comprising a receptacle adapted to contain a body of lubricant, a cylindrical bearing fixed Within said receptacle and spaced from the bottom of the latter, a cylindrical bearing sleeve inclosing said bearing and capable of oscillating thereon, a crank arm integral with said bearing sleeve and projecting from said receptacle, and a hanger member integral with said arm and arranged exteriorly of the receptacle.

A hanger for swings comprising a receptacle adapted to contain a body of lubricant, a cylindrical bearing fixed within said receptacle and spaced from the bottom of the latter, a cylindrical bearing sleeve inclosing said bearing and capable of oscillating thereon, a crank arm integral with said bearing sleeve and projecting from said receptacle, a hanger member integral with said arm and arranged eXteriorly of the receptacle, said sleeve provid d with ports "for the passage of lubricants to said bearing.
