To all whom it may concern.

Be it known that I, RAYBURN F. KENNEDY, a citizen of the United States, residing at College Corner, in the county of Butler and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tallying Devices, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to game record boards and more particularly to new and useful improvements in indicating tally boards.

An object of my invention is to provide a tally board for games of various kinds for registering the number of points which each player has made as well as the nunr ber of games won by each player, obviating the necessity of keeping a record on a sheet of paper, which method is not only annoying but inefficient.

Another object of my invention is to pro vide a tally board for games in which a plurality of keys are provided depressible to indicate a point and having automatic means for retaining the keys in depressed position, and means for releasing simultaneously all of the keys when a game is finished.

Another object of my invention is to provicle a tally board of the class described which is simple in construction, strong and durable, cheap to manufacture, and effecttive in operation.

Referring more particularly to the drawing wherein similar characters of reference designate like and corresponding parts throughout the various views, 1 designates in its entirety a casing having a base 2, end walls 3 and side walls 3. provided with suitable openings to accomnodate the keys hereinafter described. It will be noted that the casing 1 is rectangular in configuration, but it is to be understood that I do. not limit myself to this particular shape of casing.

My invention embodies point registering and indicating means, locking means therefor, and means for automatically releasing said registering means. The point indicating means comprises preferably a plurality of sets of depressible keys arranged in groups of five, these groups being practically identical in construction and therefore a description of one of the groups will suffice.

Referring to the groups of keys shown at the broken away portion of Fig. 1 and shown to advantagein Fig. 2 I have provided a plurality of shells preferably cylindrical and designated 5, said shells carrying keys 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. The keys are maintained in the position best shown in Fig. 2 by means of coil springs 11 disposed between the lower extremities of the keys and the bottom ofthe shells 5. In order to maintain the key in indicating or depressed position, I provide locking means comprising preferably spring strips 12 arranged in parallelism and slightly spaced apart on a transversely extending beam or support 13 by means of fastening screws 1%. The free extremities of the spring strips 12 are bent upwardly at right angles as indicated at 15 and 16 and laterally and outwardly bent as at 17 and 18 to provide locking tongues for a purpose which will hereinafter appear. The body portion of the strip 12 on either side of the support 18 is slightly inclined upwardly as best shown in Fig. 2. A plurality of arms 19 and 20 are carried by the keys of each set, each of said arms being olfset as at 21 and 22 in order to bring the free extremities thereof in uniform spaced relation adjacent the extremities of the spring strips 12. Suitable slots 23 are provided in the shells 5 to accommodate the arms 19 and 20. It willbe seen that when the keys are depressed the arms 19 and 20 will be engaged under their respective locking springs, the laterally bent portions of said spring strips engaging under the upper marginal edges of the arms thereby retaining the keys in depressed position.

I have provided means for indicating the number oi games Won by a particular player designated 37, there being an indicator for each player using the device.

It will be seen that in operation an accurate account of a game or plurality oi games may be kept by the players themselves without the necessity of resorting to pencil and paper. It will be seen that after the tally has been counted up When a given game has been decided all of the keys may automatically be reset for another game.

In a device of the class described, a casing, a support in said casing, a plurality of depressible key members in said casing, arms carried by said key members and aran ed in parallelism, spring locking strips d by said support and having upti ned laterally l ent ends for engagement with the ends of said arms, and a shaft having radially extending parallel spaced arms thereon for engagement with said spring locking members to disengage the same from said key arms and simultaneously release all of the keys.

l. In a game tallying device, a casing, a plurality of depressible key members in said casing, arms carried by said key members, a support, a plurality of locking strips carried by said support and having upturned ends formed with laterally bent portions for engagement with the key arms, and means engageable with said upturned ends to move the laterally bent portions out oi engagement with said arms to permit return of said keys to normal position.
