To all whom it may concern. x v
Beit `known that I, 'CLARA 'BORCHMA'NN, e subject. of the Emperor of Gemiany, vresiding `et New York., lin the county of Bronx and Steteo New Yox'k, have invented nen and useful improvements inCovcifs for 'Re-- ceptacles, 'of which the following is a specification.' A v kThis invention relates "cowcoveis for receptacles ind has paticular'applicntion to Y covers for bottles.
ln the present instance it isnxy'pmpose toV n V provide a. cover which will completely en- 2o y interferewitli tneponring ofthe contents velopuand conceal the bottle in such a man nerV that tlneA out-line and` form of the bottle completely enveloped "f andl concealed a two-ply section, thelatter 'constittin imY inner approximately cylindrical wall w ich v7m will be completely obliterated and no Suspicion Awhatever'Iwill be aroused :is to the presenceof such bottle.
It is also my purpose tofpiovide e cover which when. applied to the bottle will not -fomfthe latter. if-desired, may be in the form of stitches, connecting either the rear or front lower edge of thehead portion to the upper portion of the trunk. By thus attaching the head, the latter may normally occupy the position. indicated in Fig. 1, thus concealing the mouth end of the bottle, but, when desired, said head may be swung back to the position illustrated in Fig. 2, so that the stopper of the bottle will be exposed. When this stopper is removed, the contents of the bottle may be poured out as usual.
For the purpose of further insuring that the covering figure will not becolne accidentally detached or removed from the bottle,
,I may, if'desired, provide a circumferential band 20 of elastic material such as is commonly employed for making garters. This band is preferably attached to the' inner ply of the material of the wall 13, as shown 1n F ig. 2, and may be readily stretched or opened out so .as to permit it to be lpassed over the neck of the bottle and down to a int below the rib or bead 9. The waistine 22 of the figureis preferably located at the" base ofthe neck 6 of the bottle so that the-'shoulder 7 of the' bottle gives shape to th'c hip sections 23 of the figure.
It will be evident that wlnlc the covering figure complete] covers the true identity of the article, the ottle will operate as a support for the figure and assist in giving sha e to the latter. In this connection it is to e understood that the skirt 15 of the figure is preferably made from flimsy cloth, paper or The collar 17 projects downwardly beyond the lower edge of the head portion of the figure so that it `effectively conceals the fact that the head is movable, as such collar overders of the figure. At the back the lower edge of the collar may be attached by sewing it to the back of the trunk belowathe hinged connection 19.
. While I-have herein described my bottle cover as having a movable head or part to give access to the stopper, I may if desired,
remove the cover bodilv from the bottle when the latter is to be used.
Whilel have herein shown and described one particular embodiment of my invention, wish it to be understood'that I do not confine `myself to vall the precise details of construction. herein set forth by way of illus tration, as modification and variation may lvbe made without departing from the spirit of the invention or exceeding the scope of the appended claims.
IVhat I claimA is 1. A bottle cover .comprising a body porl tion shaped to approximately the contour 4of the trunk of the human body and having .a walled opening longitudinally therethrough adapted to receive and conceal the neck of a bottle, a head section mounted on the body portion and adapted to overlie the mouth of a bottle and a nether section depending from the body portion and adapted to cover and conceal the body of a bottle.
2. A bottle cover comprising a body scction having an elongated walled opening extending longitudinally therethrough for the insertion of a bottle neck, said body section conforming in outline to the general shape of the trunk of a human-body, a head sectiontmovably connected with the body section and adapted to be positioned to concealand expose the mouth of a bottle, and a nether section depending from the body section and covering the body of the bottle.
3. In a device of the character set forth, in combination, a bottle having a neck and a removable stopper therefor, a figure of a doll-having a body with an opening therethrough reiving the said neck of the bottle, said opening having' means therein for enga ing the neck of the bottle to secure said bo y thereto, and a skirt of flexible material extending down from said body and coperating with `said body to envelop and completely conceal said bottle, said doll having ,amovable head attached thereto movable into a position to expose said stopper.
4. In a device of the character set forth, in combination, a bottle having a neck andr a removable stopper therefor, a figure of a doll having a body with an opening therethrough receiving the said neck of the bottle, saidl opening having means therein for engaging the neck of the bottle to' secure said body thereto, and a skirt of flexible material extending down from said body and coperating with said body to envelop and completely conceal said bottle, said doll having a movable h d attached thereto movable into a. position to expose said stopper, said ligure having its waist line substantially at the base of said neck. said bottle operating to support said figure in an upright position, the shoulder of the said bottle giving shape to the hips of the said figure.
