My invention relates to hollow bridle-bits, perforated to allow a melted substance to eXude therethrough 5 and consists in the improved construction hereinafter described and subsequent ly pointed out in the claim.
A is the mouth-piece of the bit. B and C are p the rings into which the headstall-straps and the reins are buckled. The mouth-piece A is made hollow to receive the medicine, and lhas a number of small perforations, a', formed through its side through which the dissolved medicine or the vapor of the medicine may escape into the horses mouth. The rings B C are pivoted t0 plugs b c', one of which, as b', may be permanently attached to the end of the mouth-piece A. The other plug c has a screw-thread cut upon it to screw into a screw-thread cut in the inner surface of the end of the mouth-piece A to enable the said plug c to be conveniently detached when required for the insertion of the medicine. If desired both the plugs b o may be screwed into the ends ofthe mouth-piece A.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A perforated tubular bridle-bit, having its ends closed by screws formed on or attached to the cheek-pieces, as and for the purpose specified. ALBERT VANAUKEN.
