Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 14, 1916}.
Application filed July 24, 1916. Serial No. 111,000.
To-all whom it may concern Be it known that I, I V E-R. DEAN, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Memphis, in the county of Shelby and State of Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toy Rebounders, of which. the'following is a specification'.
The present invention relates to the class of games and toys and has particular reference to new and useful improvements in toy rebounders'employing a ball and bat, the primary object being to provide a novel toy of the class described requiring skill to use, as well as being interesting.
Another object of my invention is to provide a toy rebounder of the class described which is simple in construction, may be cheaply manufactured and will afford'considerable amusement to those using thesame.
Other objects and advantages to. be derived from the use of my improved toy rebounder will appear from the following detail description and the claims, taken with an inspection ofthe accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a toy embodying the improvements of my invention; and Fig. 2 is an enlarged fragmental longitudinal sectional view of the-same.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, wherein similar characters of reference.
designate like and corresponding parts throughout the variousyviews, 1 designates the handle of my improved toy, the same having a recess 2 therein adjacent one end thereof, said recess being adapted to receive a rebounding board 3, said board being seated in the recess and retained therein by means of nails f or the like. A ball 5 car- .ried by the free end .of an elastic strip 6 is provided, said strip being secured at the center of the board 3 by means of a nail 7 or the like.
found to require skill, it being particularly difficult to prevent the ball from striking the bell. By using my improved toy a game of skill may be played between a number of players, the object being to determine the winner by the least number of rings of the bell. It will, therefore, be seen that I have provided a simple and novel toy which is amusing to those using the same to play a what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is v 1. A toy of the class described, including a handle portion, provided with a recess, a board arranged transversely of said handlein said recess, a ball suspended from said board by an elastic means, and'abell or other sounding device carried by the free end of said handle.
2. A toy of the 'class described, including a handle having a recess adjacent one end thereof, a transversely mounted board in said recess, an elastic strip extending from the central portion of said board and carrying a ball or similar rebounder on the free end thereof, and a bell carried by the free end of said handle, j
3. A 'toy of the class described, including a handle ha. in a recess therein adjacent one end thereo, a board arranged transversely of said handle in said recess, a bell carried by thefree end of said handle, a ball, elastic means connecting said ball with said board, and means for maintaining said board on said handle.
In testimony whereof, I afiix my signature hereto.
IRVINE R. DEAN.
