To all whom it may concern:

Be it knownthat I, PETER C. STICH- TENOTH, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and "useful Improvement in Game Apparatus, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification.

My invention relates to games for amusement and more particularly to that class of game which requires a special apparatus.

The object of the invention is to produce a game apparatus which can be manufac tured inexpensively, and may, if desired, be used as an advertisement, space being provided thereon for a sufficient amount of printed matter. My invention consists of a block having suitable apertures therein, with an obstruction in each aperture adapted to be straddled or otherwise engaged by a dart or arrow suitably weighted at one end, the arrow being tied to the main block by means of a cord.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of an apparatus constructed in accordance with my invention.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, which show a preferred construction, 1 represents a block having a platform 2 at one end and a handle 3 at the other end, and a raised portion 4 intermediate thereof. Apertures 5 are provided through the raised portion 4 of the device and are provided with preferably transverse bars 6 near the bottom thereof. While I have illustrated a single bar 6, it will be understood that other bars may be provided or other obstructions constructed to answer the purpose to be described.

A dart or arrow 7 is provided and has a weighted bifurcated end 8, and an enlarged fiat tail portion 9. The dart is attached to the main block 1 by means of a cord 10.

Suitable markings 11 on the raised portion 1 around the apertures are provided to indicate what each throw of the dart is to be counted, provided that it enters one of the apertures 5.

The device is illustrated with the preferred markings for its use as a baseball game, and certain rules may first be decided upon by the players regarding the position of the dart on the platform, before the same is thrown or tossed.

In playing the game, the person representing the side batting holds the block by the handle 3 and places the dart in the position shown in Fig. 1, and by giving the entire device a toss upwardly, the dart is thrown into the air and the weighted end 8 causes it to descend, dart end first. If the dart enters one of the apertures 5 and straddles one of the bars 6, the play is counted as a home run. If however, the dart, before being tossed in the air, is placed in the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2, that is, with the weighted end 8 toward the apertures, and the dart straddles one of the bars 6, the play is counted as a threebase hit. When the dart enters one of the apertures 5-in either side of the bar 6, as illustrated in dotted lines in Fig. 2, the play counts as indicated on the edges of the apertures, either as a two-base hit, a onebase hit, or an out. When the dart is tossed into the air and misses all three of the apertures, it is termed a strike, three of these strikes, as usual, counting as one out.

Various changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, also certain changes may be made relative to the points counted b the dart entering the apertures in difierent positions, and I do not wish to be confined to the exact details and rules described.

What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A game apparatus comprising a block, apertures therein, obstructions placed across said apertures, a dart adapted to be placed on one end of said block and pass when lifted therefrom through the apertures provided therein, and also adapted to engage said obstructions.

2. A game apparatus comprising a block having apertures therein, bars placed across said apertures and a dart having a bifurcated end adapted to engage said bars, substantially as described.

3. A game apparatus comprising a block, a raised portion on said block having apertures therein, obstructions mounted in said apertures, a platform at one end of said block, a handle at the other end thereof, and
