IMPROVEMENT IN CLOTHES-DRIERS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 120,452, dated October 31, 1871.

Be it known that I, DANIEL MILLER, of Ma rietta, in the county of Washington and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Olothesltack; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon.

This invention has for its object a cheap and simple clothes-rack, adapted to occupy but little space when not in actual use; and consists of certain details of construction which will be fully described hereinafter.

In the drawing, Figure 1 represents a plan view of my improved rack; Fig. 2, a side elevation and Fig. 3, an end elevation of the same.

To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention I will now proceed to describe fully its construction and manner of operation.

A represents a board, of any proper width and length, which is provided with screw-rings a a, or other proper means of attachment to the wall. B also represents a board, correspondin gin length to the board A, which is secured thereto at right angles, as shown. 01 d represent transverse slots, arranged at regular and suitable intervals, as shown, which slots extend in a rearward direction beneath a projecting portion, w, of the board B, and in front terminate above a supporting portion at. O 0 represent the arms of the rack consisting of bars of proper length provided at their rear ends with a notch, c, and at their front ends with a shoulder, 0 and pin, 0 as shown.

The rack is used as follows: The rear ends of the arms G are inserted in the slots 1) by holding the arms inclined slightly forward from a vertical line, the recess or notch 0 being toward the front and the pin 0 toward the wall. When the projection of the notch c has passed into the slot,

the arm may be made ready for use by simply bringing it to a horizontal line, in which position it will be securely held by the portions aand w of the board B. When the arms are not in actual use, they may be put out of the Way by lifting them nearly to a vertical line, and permitting them to fall through the slot until they are caught by the shoulder 0 If desired, the arms may be entirely removed from the supporting parts of the rack. This device, as a whole, is exceedingly simple, and can be made at a ver Y small cost.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
