JOHN A. MOCOACH, OF BOIGOURT, KANSAS.
BOTTLE. I
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 1'7, 1916.
AppIication filed March 9, 1916. Serial No. 83,150. I
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, J OIIN A. MoCoAoH, a
citizen of the United States, residing at Boicourt, in the county of Linn and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bottles; and I .do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make. and use the same.
My invention relates to new and useful improvements in bottles and my object is to provide a bottle for containing poisonous substances, the exterior of the bottle having devices formed thereon for indicating that the bottle does contain poison. And a further object is to provide cavities or depressions in the neck of the bottle in which is to be placed phosphorus whereby the neck of the bottle will be illuminated, thus obviating any possibility of obtaining the wrong bottle in the dark.
Other objects and advantages will be hereinafter set forth and more particularly pointed out in the accompanying specification.
In the accompanying drawings which are made a part of this application, Figure 1 is a side elevation of the bottle complete. Fig. 2 is a similar view showing depressions formin letters in the inner face of the neck of the ottle in which is to beplaced phosphorus. Y
Referring to the drawings in which similar reference numerals designate correspond- 7 ing parts through the several views, 1 indicates the body of the bottle which may be constructed in any preferred shape or design and 2 indicates the neck of the bottle through which, the contents of thebottle is introduced into or removed therefrom; This bottle is designed for containin poisonous substances, and in order to o viate any possibility of mistaking the bottle for another, the exterior of the body and neck of the bottle is provided with a plurality of conical projections 3 and certain of said be formed into letters 4, said letters spel ing the word polson. In adprojections ma dition to the projections and the letters, each face of the bottle may have blown thereon a.
Depressions 9 are formed in the inner face of the neck of the bottle, said depressions being in the form of letters which letters spell the word poison, and by placing a quantity of phosphorus 11 inthe depressions and then filling the remainder of the space with any suitable form of sealing substance 12, such as paraffin which is insoluble in the contents'of the 'bottle, said letters will be illuminated and show that the bottle contains poison, even in the dark.
By providing the conical projections, the points of which will readily prick the hand, when the bottle is grasped, in addition to the word poison and representation of a skull and cross bones, it wlll be impossible for any one to accidentally consume the poisonous substances, as any ohe familiar with the construction of the bottle would instantly eliminating the many injuries and deaths occasioned by consuming poison substances by mistake.
Having thus fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
A poison bottle having depressions in'the inner surface of its neck portion in the form of letters, illuminating substances disposed in each of said letter depressions, and an insoluble covering disposed within and closing said depressions to retain the illuminating substances therein.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
