My invention relates to lasts for boots I and shoes of the hinged or jointed type and consists in the arrangements and combinations hereinafter described,

In the drawings, A represents the toeportion of the last, B the heel portion. These' are two distinct parts.
C is a joint between the two portions A and B upon which they turn respectively. This joint I prefer to make by means of an inclosed cylindrical stud D, separating the two parts, said stud preferably having an enlarged central portion formed thereon at (Z. The parts A and B are cut out suilioiently to permit the insertion of the stud D and thus prevent vertical displacement when they are held in position as shown in the figures by the means hereinafter stated. It is obvious, however, that other forms of a joint, so-called, may be used,-
as for instance either the part A or part B might be cut out and the parts A and.
Brespectively have a convex curved part to fit the concavity, a manner in which twopart lasts have been heretofore united and therefore need not be further described. All that is necessary is to hold the two parts in fixed relation while they turn upon each other and means to prevent displacement.
Each of the parts A and B has a narrow central groove a, b, in. a semicircular form, as shown in Figs. 1- and 2 and also as shown in Fig. 3. Within this groove'is placed a curved spring 8 which preferably is of an hm bum/4.1mm! vzinmumnunmmly LAST.
