MAX LEITNER, 0F CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
SANITARY NIGHT-STOOL.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 26, 1916.
Application led December 6, 1915. Serial No. 65,217.
10 all fw from t may concern.'
Be it known that I, MAX LEITNER, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Chicago, in the county of Cook, State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sanitary N ight-Stools, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvement in portable night stools or seats for household or like uses, and has for its object to provide a simple and substantial structural formation and association of parts in anight stool or seat, adapted for convenient and comfortable occupancy, and with which the eXcrement-s are directed into a readily removable pail or receptacle in a certain and effective manner, and in which a leakage of foul gases from the apparatus, when not in actual use, is effectively prevented all as will hereinafter more fully appear.
In the accompanying drawings Figure l, is a central vertical section of an apparatus embodying the structure of the present invention. F ig. 2, is a fragmentary plan view, the top or cover being omitted.
Similar reference numerals indicate like parts in both views.
Referring to the drawing, l designates the upper part of an open-top casing providing a pail or bucket receptacle, formed with an upwardly flaring side wall, with an expanded bottom portion or supporting base .2 having a beaded lower edge, and with an open beaded top which in the present structure is associated with an outer annular wall 3, arranged in spaced relation to the annular side wall of the casing 1, and forming in connection with said side wall and a converging bottom web 4: an annular open top chamber adapted to contain a sealing body of water or the like, and into which the marginal downturned rim 5 of the top cover- 6 of the apparatus, dips, to form a gas tight closure for the interior of the main casing l. The annular outer wall 3 extends a distance above the top margin of the aforesaid side wall of the casing 1 so that the usual oriiced seat 7 may rest upon the top of said side wall and be inclosed by the outer wall 3 and top cover 6 associated therewith. Beneath the converging bottom web a are depending flanges forming handles whereby the stool can be lifted and carried from place to place. The bottom of the upper `part of the open top casing and the upper part of the expanded bottom portion or supporting base 2 are seamed together.
8 designates an ordinary handled pail or bucket adapted to occupy the interior of the casing 1 and rest upon the bottom web of the same in a removable manner. Said pail is adapted to receive the eXcrements voided by the person using the apparatus.
9 designates anannular rim having a flange whereby it is secured to the underside of the oriced seat 6 aforesaid, kand adapted to fit the open top of the pail or bucketL 8 to properly position the partsas well as to direct the eXcrements in a certair manner into the pail or bucket 8 aforesai Having thus fully described my said invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A portable night-stool comprising a casing having an upper part providing a pail or bucket receptacle, formed with an upwardly-Haring side wall having a beaded upper edge, with a downwardly-expanded supporting base, having a beaded lower edge, the upper part and the base being seamed together, and with an exterior annular side-wall having a beaded top and providing a water chamber and extending a distance above the upper part and having a converging bottom web and depending Hanges beneath the bottom web providing lifting handles, a. cover seating on the beaded top of the side wall and having a marginal downturned rim dipping into the water chamber, and an orificial seat, resting upon the beaded top of the upper part of the casing and having a depending ianged annular rim spaced from the upper part of the casing.
Signed at Chicago, Illinois, this 3rd day of December, 1915.
MAX LEITNER.
