To allwhom it may concern:

'Be it known that I, CLIFTON R oss, a citizen of the United States, residing at Utica, in the county of Hinds and State of Mississippi, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Scrub-Boards;

and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the saine, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and'to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this spec1fi cation. V

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in scrub boards and consists of a simple and efficient device of thls nature so arranged that the various parts may be easily disconnected so that they wlll thoroughly dry. Heretofore, in the making of scrub boards, the parts were rlgidly secured together, thus allowing water and forelgn matter to get into the cracks and thereby produce decay of the same.

My invention is illustrated 1n the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a face new of a scrub board made in accordance with my lnvention. Fig. 2 is a sectional view on line 2-2 of Fig. 1, a rod connectin the side ralls and fastening means therefor belng removed.

Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A, A designate the opposite side rails of the board, havmg a longitudinal channel B formed 1n the inner face thereof, as shown clearly in the drawings. Said channel is provided with a shoulder D near one end and each has a screw eye E secured to its inner face. The board is designated by letter H and has a series of projections'I upon the face there of, arranged in staggered relation to one another .and which are formed by pieces of wire which are bent at right angles, as shown in Fig. 4, and passed through the board, while their inner ends, designated by letter J, are flared and serve as means for securely holding the same in place. A partition, designated by letter O, is held to the board by meansof the clenched pins R and a slight space intervenes between said bar 0' and the face of the board, as shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings, suflicient to allow any drippings from the upper portion of the board, designated by letter P, which. forms a soap receptacle, to pass therethrough. The portion of the board above the partition O has vertically disposed projections Q against which the bars of soap are adapted to rest.

It will be noted that the opposite edges of the board are provided with shoulders T, adapted to engage the shoulders D formed on the inner faces of the side rails A and eye bolts, designated by letter S, are passed through the side rails, a spring S being secured at one end to one of said bolts and at the other end to a rod S which has a hook S for engagement with the other of said thereof and are connected together by the rodL.

In assembling the parts, it will be noted that the two side rails receive the opposite edges of the board H, the edges engaging the channels and said side rails are held in place through the medium of the eye bolts and rods connected thereto. When it is desired to disassemble the parts, the hook rod S is released from the eye bolt S, allowing the side rails to swing in the manner shown-in dotted lines in Fig. 1 of the drawings, thus allowing all of the parts to thoroughly dry and thereby extend the life of the board and form a means whereby any part may be thoroughly cleansed of any foreign matter.
