To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, CHARLES M. CALHOUN, a .citizen of the United States, residing at Greenwood, in the county of Greenwood, State of South Carolina, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Rolling Swings; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

The present invention is directed to improvements in rolling swings, and has for its object to so construct a device of this character that the swings may be rolled from place to place.

A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character wherein the swings will alternately move upwardly and downwardly when the supporting wheels are in motion.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character especially adapted for use by children, which will not only serve to transport the children from place to place, but will furnish constant amusement to the children when being transported.

Vith these and other objects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formation, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of the device. Fig. 2 is a front view. Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line 33 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a sectional view on line l4 of Fig. 1. Fig. 5 is a similar view on line 55 of Fig. 2. Fig. 6 is a similar view on line 6-6 of Fig. 2.

Referring to the drawing 1 designates the supporting wheels, which are held in spaced parallel relation by bars 2, which have their opposite ends fixed to the spokes 3 of the wheels, and adjacent the outer ends thereof. The rims of the wheels 1 are connected to the bars 2 by brace bars 4, the same being arranged in zigzag relation.

A pair of bars 5 are provided and have their ends connected to adjacent bars 2. One of the bars 5 is provided with spaced stub shafts 6 and 7, the purpose of which will appear later. Having their ends connected to the spokes 3 are bars 8, said bars being arranged in diagonal relation, and are provided with pins 9. It will be of course understood that each wheel is equipped with one of the bars 8.

The swings 10 each consist of a seat 11, and convergingly arranged hangers 12, which have their lower ends connected to the side bars 13. The upper ends of the hangers 12 are provided with bars 14:, which are adapted to engage with the stub shaft 6 and adjacent pins 9, whereby the swings are pivotally supported.

Since the stub shafts 6 are spaced from each other, and the pins 9 are disposed in offset relation it is obvious that when the wheels 1 are rotated that the swings 10 will alternately rise and fall, and at the same time travel in an arc.

The hubs 15 are provided with trunnions 16, which are pivotally engaged by the side bars 17 of a handle 18.

Since the swings travel in an arc, and alternately upwardly and downwardly, the weight of the persons occupying the swings to some extent will aid in propelling the device so that a person will have to exert very little pressure upon the handle 18.

What is claimed is 1. An amusement device comprising a pair of spaced traction wheels, swings pivotally mounted between the wheels in offset lateral relation and adapted to travel in an arc and alternately rise and fall.

2. An amusement device, the combination with a pair of traction wheels, bars holding the wheels in spaced relation, a single bar having its ends attached to a pair of the first named bars, said bar having stub shafts carried thereby and in spaced relation, bars fixed to said wheels and having pins carried thereby, swings including hangers having bearings adapted to pivotally engage the stub shafts and pins, said swings being suspended in offset lateral relation, whereby when said wheels are in motion the swings will travel in an arc and alternately rise and fall, and a handle pivotally associated with the device.
