OSCILLATING CHURN-DASHER.
Application filed September 25, 1915.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT L. TAYLOR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hope, in the county of I-Iempstead and State of Arkansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Oscillating Ohurn- Dashers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in rotatable and reciprocating dasher churns and consists of a simple and efficient device of this nature having various details of construction, combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure l is a vertical central sectional view through a churn showing the dasher and support in elevation, and Fig. 2 is a sec tional view on line 2 2 of Fig. 1.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a churn having a top B with a slot O formed in the top through which the twisted dasher shaft D is adapted to have a reciprocating movement and so arranged that, when moved longitudinally, the shaft will rotate and also the dasher E fixed thereto. Said top has a beveled circumference adapted to seat against a beveled ring F held securely in place by means of bolts H having thumb screws I thereon. The top 13 is provided with a recess 0, and P is a ring, shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings, having a rod R projecting therefrom designed to telescope in the hollow downwardly projecting portion of the yoke T, which latter has collars T hinged at T upon the bracket members T Specification of Letters Patent.
Serial No. 52,750.
which are adapted to be fastened to a fixed object S. The thumb screw J is mounted in an aperture in the yoke T and is adapted to bear against and hold the rod R in an adusted position. Said ring has fastened thereto, by means of the thumb nut M, a plate G which is slotted for the reception of the shaft D and serves as means for guiding the shaft as it is moved longitudinally. A handle L is hinged at L to the yoke T and isguided in its swinging movement by means of a strap L fastened to the yoke and through which strap and apertures in the yoke a pin N passes, serving as a means to limit the throw of the handle. The dasher shaft has swiveled connection D with a yoke D which is pivoted at D to the handle.
Patented Aug. 29, T916.
The operation of my invention will be .slot in the top of said plate.
What I claim to be new is A churn body, a beveled ring adapted to a beveled seat at the upper end of said body, a top having beveled circumference seated in said ring, said top having a recess, a ring on said top, means securing said rings together, a rod projecting upwardly from said ring, a plate secured to said ring and slotted, a twisted shaft engageable in said slot and a coincident slot in said top, a yoke supported by said rod, and means pivotally mounted on one arm of said yoke and guided by means on the other arm and having a pivoted and swiveled connection with said rod.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affiX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ROBERT LEE TAYLOR.
